Title: Rideshare Stimulator Outlines AI Usage After Contentious Exchange With Ex-Writer
Date: Fri, 14 Aug 2026 19:33:38 +0000
Link: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/rideshare-stimulator-outlines-ai-usage-after-contentious-exchange-with-ex-writer/
After Saber Interactive unveiled its upcoming title Rideshare Stimulater, former lead writer Stella Sacco came forward and said that she had been replaced by ChatGPT during development. Saber CEO Matthew Karch denied Sacco's allegation that she had been replaced by AI, but the company has now shared previously undisclosed details about Rideshare Stimulator's AI usage.
Rideshare Stimulator casts players as a driver who can pick up a seemingly infinite number of passengers and interact with them while getting them to their final destinations. According to the new disclosure on the game's Steam page, Rideshare Stimulator uses AI tools for "voice generation and some localization" and AI-generated passenger missions that can be skipped if players only want "human-written narrative content."
It also adds that the game will have radio stations with "human-made music and AI-generated music," with the latter being clearly labeled in-game. However, Saber flatly states that "the main campaign story, characters, and dialogue are written by a team of human writers."
Earlier this week, Sacco said that she was replaced as the game's lead writer by AI "midway through development."
https://bsky.app/profile/antlervel.vet/post/3mssv7pyows2l
"They took me off the project to use ChatGPT to write the rest of the text, including planned live updates," Sacco told PC Gamer in a subsequent statement. "If they changed plans in the intervening years, that's great. But again: I was there, and it was my job to write the game, and then it wasn't once Matt Karch decided using ChatGPT would be great publicity for the game."
Karch released a statement of his own with This Week in Videogames that added greater controversy to the story by claiming that Stella "violated" her agreement with the company.
"Stella who? I had to ask Claude because I have never spoken to her or seen her. We have already said we are using AI for certain parts of the game and will update the Steam page once we have finalized the feature set. Let me clarify that the entire story script, were it to win an award, would go to someone who can walk up on stage and receive it. It was always our intention to reveal this until Stella violated her confidentiality clause and revealed this before we were ready."
Karch added his belief that "our use of AI in this particular game, which will be a lower-priced title, [will be a plus] for consumers." So far, the game's potential players don't appear to share that sentiment. The discussions page on Steam has several comments calling out Saber for its AI use on this game.
Rideshare Stimulator will be released on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. This game doesn't currently have a release date.

Title: Here’s A First Look At CoD: Warzone’s New Zodiac Map For MW4
Date: Fri, 14 Aug 2026 18:25:27 +0000
Link: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/heres-a-first-look-at-cod-warzones-new-zodiac-map-for-mw4/
Call of Duty players can expect a brand-new Warzone Resurgence map for Modern Warfare 4, and Infinity Ward has teased a first look at the upcoming location. Players will also be able to go hands-on with the Zodiac map ahead of launch.
As shown in the image below, Zodiac is a map that appears to have an industrial setting. The teaser reveals a stretch of road with industrial buildings on both sides, and one rooftop that looks reminiscent of the Factory point-of-interest on Rebirth Island. Several wind turbines also stand in the distance.
Warzone's new Zodiac map for MW4
This is one of Warzone's smaller Resurgence maps for respawn modes, but it's impossible to tell the overall size from this one slice of the map. However, it will likely be comparable with the size of existing maps such as Haven's Hollow or Rebirth Island.
While this is a Warzone map designed for Modern Warfare 4, players will be able to drop into matches on Zodiac very soon. This new map will be available as part of Modern Warfare 4's upcoming beta, marking the first time Warzone has been included in Call of Duty's yearly beta sessions.
Infinity Ward has announced a massive amount of content for the Modern Warfare 4 beta. The early play sessions will include several multiplayer maps and modes, Warzone Resurgence on Zodiac, and even a campaign mission. Those interested can find out how to participate in the MW4 beta here.
Players can also expect a new big map to arrive for standard battle royale modes. Infinity Ward confirmed on social media that a larger Warzone map is also in the works, but this could be a map arriving sometime after launch. We'll get more details on the future of Warzone on August 21 with Call of Duty: Next, which is Activision’s annual event to showcase upcoming games.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 releases on October 23 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2.
Title: Halo: Campaign Evolved Will Look Way Better Soon
Date: Fri, 14 Aug 2026 17:20:58 +0000
Link: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/halo-campaign-evolved-will-look-way-better-soon/
Halo: Campaign Evolved is set to receive its first major patch next week, one that will give players more control over the game's visuals as well as make improvements to Jackals and Sgt. Johnson.
As outlined by the Halo Support X account, a patch coming sometime next week will fix a few pain points for players of Halo Studios' remake. The update should make graphics purists happy, as it will add the ability to disable the game's very noticeable film grain and chromatic aberration. The patch will also include "additional stability improvements across multiple platforms."
On the gameplay front, Jackals are receiving some changes so that they can be staggered more reliably when targeting their hands and feet, as has always been the case in Halo. Sgt Johnson is being updated so that he no longer blocks mission progress. This sounds like it will mostly affect the three new prequel missions included as part of the remake, where Johnson occasionally needs to hack open doors before Master Chief can proceed. Marines and Flood Marines will also correctly fire their Assault Rifles with the Magnified Skull turned on.
https://twitter.com/HaloSupport/status/2087947309334012346?s=20
It remains to be seen if the patch will address other issues players have spotted since release, including unresponsive enemy AI and cutscenes that lock up and fail to play properly. Halo Studios states there will be more details in the full patch notes when the update is released. It's also worth noting that any mid-mission saved progress will be lost upon downloading the new update, though unlocked missions and rally points will remain.
The launch of Halo: Campaign Evolved may not have gone as well as Halo Studios would have liked, with reports indicating the game is off to a slow start on PlayStation 5 and has sold a combined total of 1.2 million copies across all platforms so far.
According to one analyst, Halo: Campaign Evolved's greatest competition, particularly on PC, might be Halo itself. The franchise's compilation package, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, released over a decade ago and contains almost the entirety of the Halo franchise, including online multiplayer, and can be bought for $40 at the high end or much cheaper when on sale. When compared to Halo: Campaign Evolved, which only features the first game's campaign, no multiplayer, and retails for $50, it's not hard to see why some players decided this was a fight that didn't need finishing.
Given the remake's performance, it's unclear what is coming next for the franchise, though Halo: Campaign Evolved does seemingly tease a Halo 2 remake.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom pretty much always merits a replay. Or two. Or fifteen. There’s always another sky island you’ve skipped, or a cave you haven’t fully explored. Title: 'Kaiju No. 8' Officially Returns in 3 Weeks After 1 Year of Waiting — but There’s a Catch
Date: Sat, 15 Aug 2026 19:00:12 GMT
Link: https://www.polygon.com/kaiju-no-8-new-season-narumis-week-at-work/
Kaiju No. 8 has become one of anime’s most entertaining modern hits, pairing giant-monster spectacle a la Godzilla with a surprisingly goofy workplace comedy. The series follows Kafka Hibino, a 32-year-old sanitation worker who dreams of joining the Defense Force. Through mysterious circumstances, he gains the ability to transform into a humanoid kaiju himself — and one that’s incredibly powerful at that. The series is appropriately chock-full of enormous battles and increasingly wild transformations, but its best moments come from watching Kafka and his fellow soldiers bounce off one another. Animated by Production I.G. (Ghost in the Shell, Psycho-Pass) and directed by Shigeyuki Miya, the series has developed a distinctive balance between blockbuster action and character-driven comedy that makes it easy to see why Kaiju No. 8 has become such a fixture in modern anime.

When you think of roguelike RPGs with emotional stories about family, your mind probably goes straight to Hades. For good reason! Supergiant's exceptional take on Greek mythology is a modern classic. But before Zagreus ever copped an attitude with the lord of the underworld, indie studio Dead Mage put family first in another dark fantasy, co-op roguelike.
Title: Class Is in Session: GeForce NOW Levels Up Linux, Chromebooks and More
Date: Thu, 13 Aug 2026 13:00:33 +0000
Link: https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/geforce-now-thursday-linux-native-app/
GeForce NOW is giving cloud gaming an extra-credit upgrade just in time for back-to-school season.
The native Linux app for GeForce NOW is officially out of beta. GeForce NOW is also delivering new cloud optimizations that make Frame Generation feel even more responsive while streaming. On top of that, Performance members will see higher frame rates in demanding games thanks to a CPU performance adjustment.
Plus, learn how GeForce NOW can add high-performance GeForce RTX gaming to the Chromebooks students already rely on for school – and how eligible new owners can take advantage of Chromebook Fast Pass.
It all adds up to more ways to move from assignments to adventures across nearly any device.
The only homework left is to decide what to play. This week, nine new games join the GeForce NOW library.
The Cloud Gets Extra Credit
GeForce NOW keeps getting better.
The native Linux app for GeForce NOW has officially graduated from beta. Built on months of community feedback, the release focuses on performance, stability and polish while continuing to support Ubuntu 24.04 and later. A new Flatpack repository makes getting started and receiving future updates even easier. Visit the download page for more information and instructions.
The cloud handles the rendering, so Linux gamers can tap into the latest GeForce RTX performance while staying on their preferred setup — without local hardware upgrades, compatibility headaches or complicated workarounds.
Smooth gameplay makes the grade.
GeForce NOW has also optimized DLSS Frame Generation in the cloud, reducing latency and making games feel more responsive. The improvements are especially noticeable when streaming at 60 or 120 frames per second in 1440p and 4K, helping every mouse movement and camera pan feel more immediate.
Performance members will also enjoy additional server software optimizations to improve frame rates in select CPU-intensive games, helping demanding titles run more smoothly while delivering an even better gameplay experience. The cloud-side upgrade happens automatically, with nothing for members to install or configure, and at no additional cost.
From Class Mode to Game Mode
Class dismissed. Game on.
Chromebooks already in backpacks can double as a PC gaming powerhouse, with GeForce NOW giving everyday school setups extra credit.
Chromebooks handling lectures, group projects and browser tabs can transform into high-performance GeForce RTX gaming PCs in just a few clicks.
When class is out, open a supported browser or app and stream more than 2,000 supported PC games from existing libraries, with the cloud handling the heavy lifting. The same flexibility extends to Macs, Surface devices, everyday laptops, Steam Deck and mobile devices.
Plus, eligible new Chromebook and Chromebook+ owners can claim a year of GeForce NOW at no cost with Chromebook Fast Pass, with priority access and no ads.
Study. Stream PC games. Same device.

Title: Best in Class: Stream PC Games and Study on the Same Laptop With GeForce NOW
Date: Thu, 30 Jul 2026 13:00:20 +0000
Link: https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/geforce-now-thursday-back-to-school-2026/
Back to school means balancing assignments, deadlines and downtime. GeForce NOW makes it easy to have it all.
With cloud gaming, everyday laptops used for class can also become GeForce RTX-powered gaming setups.
When it’s time to switch from studying to gaming, members can jump into Halo: Campaign Evolved, as GeForce NOW is bringing one of the gaming world’s most celebrated titles to nearly any device through the cloud, alongside eight total games joining the GeForce NOW library this week.
From A+ to AAA Gaming
This back-to-school season, the easiest upgrade isn’t replacing laptops in backpacks. It’s unlocking even more from these same laptops, from creating to gaming.
With a GeForce NOW membership, Chromebooks, Macs and Surface devices can become GeForce RTX-powered gaming PCs in the cloud. The GeForce NOW library features thousands of supported PC games, letting members stream titles they already own from digital stores like Steam, Xbox PC Game Pass and Epic Games Store in just a few clicks.
The cloud keeps games up to date and ready to play, making it easy to jump into a match between classes, after homework or whenever there’s free time. Time spent waiting on downloads, patches and installs becomes time spent in game instead.
The Ultimate membership enables best-in-class experiences by delivering 5080-class performance in the cloud with NVIDIA DLSS, ray tracing and NVIDIA Reflex technologies for responsive, visually rich gameplay — all on the hardware gamers already own.
A creator known as “Menguiny” recently put this to the test after picking up a MacBook Neo. GeForce NOW turned the laptop — usually the creator’s go-to for editing videos and everyday work — into a top-notch gaming machine, too.
Another creator, “TechWithSeong” highlighted that same versatility GeForce NOW offers. Rather than juggling separate devices for work and gaming, he used GeForce NOW Ultimate to stream supported PC games across the devices he already owns — from a MacBook used for editing to gaming on the go with handheld devices.
Gamers can start with a day pass and experience all the premium benefits without a monthly commitment. Plus, the cost of a day pass can be applied toward a first membership purchase — it’s like earning a little extra credit along the way.
Everyone, at Their Stations
Needlers never looked so sharp.
Experience the Master Chief’s iconic journey on GeForce NOW in Halo: Campaign Evolved — a modernized remake of Halo: Combat Evolved’s campaign — rebuilt with high-definition visuals, updated cinematics and refined gameplay. Whether discovering Halo for the first time or returning after 25 years to finish the fight, it’s as the Master Chief says: “We’re just getting started.”
Crash-land on the mysterious ringworld alongside Cortana and uncover great secrets while battling overwhelming Covenant forces. Fight through the rebuilt campaign, then continue the adventure with three brand-new missions featuring the Master Chief and Sergeant Johnson. Expanded weapons, iconic vehicles, hijackable Wraith tanks and optional Skull modifiers offer even more ways to play.
Suit up across PCs, Macs, Chromebooks, handhelds, mobile devices, TVs and more with GeForce NOW Ultimate, powered by GeForce RTX 5080-class performance in the cloud. Experience Halo with NVIDIA DLSS, ray tracing and NVIDIA Reflex technologies delivering higher frame rates and ultralow latency that keep every firefight feeling responsive and worthy of a Spartan.
From solo gaming to online co-op modes, GeForce NOW cloud saves let members log in and pick up exactly where they left off across supported devices — no lengthy downloads, extra storage space or expensive hardware upgrades required. The only thing left to carry is the mission.

Dragons and Dinosaurs — on Any Device
Classic adventures, now in the cloud.
Three iconic Capcom adventures arrive on GeForce NOW this week, ready for longtime fans to revisit and new players to discover.

Raw instinct takes over in Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2, the survival-horror series that combines pulse-pounding action, resource management and thrilling dinosaur encounters. Pursued by a relentless prehistoric terror, players fight to survive from the facility to the world of the Cretaceous Period.
Whether reliving unforgettable moments or discovering these legendary titles for the first time, gamers on GeForce NOW can experience gaming history on supported devices like Chromebooks, Fire TV and Steam Deck — no legacy hardware required.

Title: Ron Gilbert talks the untraditional way he got Thimbleweed Park 2 funded, and his frustrations with modern publishing deals

I think it would be a tad fair if you heard that Thimbleweed Park 2 is in the works and thought, "who funded that?" Not because it doesn't deserve funding, but because adventure games aren't exactly in vogue (even though it's not as dead a genre as many think), and also there's that whole video game industry crumbling around us day by day thing. When it was announced last month, creator Ron Gilbert said that it was thanks to the help of a private investor, and now the developer has shed a bit of light on how that came to be, and how that relationship works.

Do you remember, or do you even know, about the Game Boy Camera? It's exactly as it sounds, a little camera attached to an original Game Boy cartridge that you could plug in and take photos with. You could even get a printer! The aesthetic therewithin is a particular one, utilising a tiny 128x128 pixel sensor, the end result being an incredibly dithered and pixelated yet charming look. There are few games that capture such a vibe, but O EMPIRE! WARD OFF THY ROT, a game about carrying a cursed object through an abandoned world, might just manage to.

Title: "For a few weeks, women were just dropping their babies": The Witcher 3 lead on designing NPCs that react appropriately

Gone are the days where a developer could give an NPC maybe two lines of dialogue and call it a day. The steady shift to realism essentially enforces the idea that characters must behave realistically, which is why whenever some kind of glitch or bug makes an NPC move about in an impossible manner it does numbers on Your Favourite Social Media App. And according to CD Projekt Red quest designer Philipp Weber, getting The Witcher 3's NPCs to react appropriately was a tad tricky.

Slay the Spire 2 has been moving at a solid pace since it launched into early access back in March, but back in May developer Mega Crit shared that updates would be switching to once every two weeks as opposed to the previously promised weekly updates. Now, as outlined in the game's August Neowsletter, Mega Crit say they'll be slowing down once again, though not necessarily forever.
