Title: All Bosses In Mortal Shell 2 And How To Beat Them Date: Mon, 17 Aug 2026 15:22:37 +0000 Link: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/mortal-shell-2-all-bosses-how-to-defeat/ Are you keen on wanting to defeat all major bosses in Mortal Shell 2? There are 10 of these opponents in the regions of Fainweald, Mammon, and beyond, and they’re all salivating at the chance to finish off your character, the Harbinger. Our guide has tips to help you gain an advantage, but be forewarned that there are massive spoilers ahead. In This Article Mortal Shell 2 major bosses versus minibossesGlutted Mire boss: Magdalena, Lady of the WoodsSanguine Caverns boss: The Lost ChildPrisoners’ Domain boss: The Nameless CaptiveConquered Temple boss: Droeg the ConquerorWithered Shoals boss: HexapodFaded Citadel boss: Isaac, the Scholar PrinceUnfound Path: Bridge of Procession boss - Orrem, the Discarded Golem / Orrem, the ReclaimedUnfound Path: Obsidian Vault boss - The MonolithUnfound Path: Faithful’s Shelter boss - Malborn OffspringFinal boss: Zmey the Unbidden Mortal Shell 2 major bosses versus minibosses For the sake of clarity, the Mortal Shell 2 major bosses that we’re referring to are those that are found at the end of the Corrupted Gates in the game, as well as those in the final dungeon: There’s one boss in the prologue, but we didn’t include it on our list as the outcome is predetermined. There are six Corrupted Gate dungeons in the overworld. These are the Glutted Mire, Sanguine Caverns, and Prisoners’ Domain in Fainweald, and the Conquered Temple, Withered Shoals, and Faded Citadel in Mammon. Upon defeating a major boss, a beacon will spawn. Inside it, you’ll find 26x Ova, which are required for continued campaign progress. The final dungeon, known as the Unfound Path, becomes available later in the campaign once you’ve found enough Ova. There are three bosses that guard the tendrils that block progression. After taking them out, only the final boss awaits you. Before we continue, we recommend taking a look at our articles about all shell locations, all weapon/sidearm locations, and all Tarforge upgrades. Having decent shell perks for your build, as well as upgraded gear pieces and Tarstones, should make the upcoming bouts more manageable. It’s also worth adding that you can explore most of Fainweald and Mammon to find more loot, saving the Corrupted Gate dungeons for later. Last but not least, several boss encounters allow you to permanently summon a shell warrior as a spirit ally, though the unlock itself costs 1x Glimpse. Spend a Glimpse to summon a spectral shell for the battle ahead. Glutted Mire boss: Magdalena, Lady of the Woods Magdalena will likely be your first major boss fight in Mortal Shell 2. That’s because the Ova you collect for progression would lead you to her Corrupted Gate dungeon. Magdalena’s notable abilities include the following: Cart Ram - Lets the engine rip and barrels straight into your location. Fire Spin - Spins around and creates a torrent of fire around her. Blown Babies - Summons Tar Babies that explode when in close proximity. This fight is purely about avoidance, which makes Tiel an ideal pick here. Dodge her ramming and spinning attacks, then do your melee combos just before she has a chance to recover. Once she starts summoning Tar Babies, keep running and dodging to avoid the explosions. Shell summon: Smert Reward: Magdalena’s Memento (Axe & Dagger) - Consume 100 resolve to rise into the air and unleash a flurry of ruthless strikes. Magdalena loves crashing into you before spewing searing flames. Sanguine Caverns boss: The Lost Child The Lost Child boss in Mortal Shell 2 has some really nasty attacks, including a Belching Breath where it regurgitates half-eaten carcasses while targeting your location. Perhaps its most dangerous ability is Digest & Excrete. This is a grab attack that’s a bit hard to telegraph, especially if you’re too close to it. If it catches you, it will gobble you up and then “poop” you out of its bum like discarded remains. It’s hilarious to see, but don’t let that distract you from the fact that it’s also very deadly. Shell summon: Tiel Reward: Lost Clotstone (Obsidian Hammer and Veteran’s Battle Axe) - Consume 60 resolve to spin in place and release your weapon with brutal force. Note: After cleansing the final beacon in the dungeon, go to the innermost chamber to find a Blackmarrow Key. The item is used to open sarcophagi in Marrow Keep, which then nets you a new color scheme for unlocked shells. The Lost Child will gobble you up if you're not careful. Prisoners’ Domain boss: The Nameless Captive The Nameless Captive boss should be a treat for long-time fans of soulslike games. This is akin to a straight-up melee bout: Sword Stab - Repeatedly strikes the ground with the large blade embedded in it. Violent Swing - Spins around several times, with its blade cutting large swathes around it. The Nameless Captive has brutal, multi-hit attacks. The good news is that the patterns are fairly easy to memorize. If you can block or parry these, your victory will be even more rewarding. Shell summon: Eredrim Reward: Captive’s Scabstone (Great Martyr’s Blade) - Consume 100 resolve to swing your weapon in a violent arc, striking all who stand close. The Nameless Captive will test your mettle in close-quarters combat. Conquered Temple boss: Droeg the Conqueror If you head to the snowed-in dungeon known as the Conquered Temple, then you’ll end up facing Droeg the Conqueror, a large ogre who wields a gargantuan bone club. Droeg’s most dangerous ability, however, doesn’t involve his melee weapon. Rather, it’s the Blazing Frostfire that emanates from his back. When Droeg looks like he’s stunned, but a red icon flashes around him, it means flames will start flying outside his body. All of these projectiles home in on your position, and each one deals high damage. Shell summon: Gragu Reward: Conqueror’s Reward (Black Needle) - Consume 100 resolve to drive your weapon forward in a series of swift piercing thrusts. Note: After collecting the Ova in the beacon, continue to the other side of the hallway. There's an area beyond where the climate is extremely cold, causing your character to take periodic damage. If you survive all the way to the end, you'll find the Frostshard Stone. Droeg will either smash you to bits or burn you to a crisp. Withered Shoals boss: Hexapod Although the Hexapod is located in the Ruins of Mammon, we feel that it’s one of the easiest encounters (at least among the major bosses in the game). For starters, its melee attacks cause it to spread its tentacles wide, revealing its head. This animation takes a few seconds, making it easy to telegraph. It also jumps backward, causing a red icon to flash on its body. This means it’s getting ready to do the Squid Surge ability, where it rams into your character. A quick sideways dodge ought to be enough to avoid it, allowing you to strike it several times. Shell summon: Proxima Reward: Hexapod Core (Axatana) - Consume 60 resolve to carve through enemies with a rapid succession of strikes. Swiftly dodge the Hexapod's maneuvers. Faded Citadel boss: Isaac, the Scholar Prince The Isaac boss in Mortal Shell 2 can be a bit frustrating to fight. Although this foe fights primarily in melee, he also has extremely high range. He can close the gap easily with his Leaping Lunge maneuver. He also does the Pin Cushion combo, where he repeatedly thrusts downward with his dual rapiers. After depleting 50% of Isaac’s health, you’ll automatically rip away his shield. This will hardly faze him, however, since his attacks will become more erratic and unpredictable. Shell summon: Lazlo Reward: Scholar’s Wormstone (Clockwork Scythe) - Consume resolve over time to set the chainsaw in motion, augmenting your every attack. Isaac, the Scholar Prince, is raring for a fight. Unfound Path: Bridge of Procession boss - Orrem, the Discarded Golem / Orrem, the Reclaimed The Unfound Path is the game’s final dungeon. The large platform in the middle is inaccessible by default. The goal is to explore the three segments of the dungeon, all of which have tendrils that you can destroy. Before you can do that, however, you must defeat each enemy guarding those areas. One of these foes is Orrem, a beefed-up Tar Golem. During the first phase, Orrem will create flame explosions with its Cascading Fire, which triggers after its melee combo. It also periodically jumps high into the air before crashing down. Then, after depleting its HP, the golem will grow a tail, and you’ll enter the second phase of the encounter. The boss scurries around more often, lashes at you with its tail, and triggers flame explosions from a distance. Shell summon: Sariel Reward: Orrem’s Head - Can be traded for 5,000 coins. Don't use up all your healing flasks since the Orrem encounter has two phases. Unfound Path: Obsidian Vault boss - The Monolith The Monolith can shrug off tremendous damage due to its high health. Early in the battle, this huge stone block primarily attacks by jumping and falling down in an attempt to squash you. Then, once you’ve depleted half of its health bar, it will start shooting out beams. It will also spin around while the beams are active, so try to dodge at the perfect time to avoid taking damage. Shell summon: N/A Reward: Monolith Fragment - Can be traded for 5,000 coins. Try to run around to evade the Monolith's pulsing beams. Unfound Path: Faithful’s Shelter boss - Malborn Offspring The Malborn offspring is the toughest Mortal Shell 2 boss in this particular dungeon. That’s because this is a two-phase encounter and the boss has some rather hard-to-predict moves: Cleaving Combos - Most of its attack sequences have five or six chained hits, all with varying animation speeds and delays. We feel that its patterns are harder to memorize compared to, say, the Nameless Captive from earlier in the campaign. Once you’ve fully depleted its health bar, it will slowly get resurrected. Use these precious few seconds to continuously attack it before it’s fully risen. For the entirety of the second phase, its attacks will be infused with the lightning element. It will also chuck out electrified bolts from a distance. If you’ve improved your bond with Proxima, then she’s a viable option here due to her Ampereon perks, which grant immunity to lightning. That said, our pick happens to be Genessa, thanks to her Faithful Double summons, which are able to distract the Malborn Offspring. Shell summon: N/A  Reward: Offspring Trophy - Can be traded for 5,000 coins. Note: Before fighting the final boss, be sure to cleanse the Hidden Nave beacon. Inside, you’ll find the Endless Core, which removes the Tarforge upgrade limit. The first phase of the Malborn Offspring bout should be easy enough, but things get very hectic during the second phase. Final boss: Zmey the Unbidden And now you’ve reached the grand finale. It’s time to face the final boss in Mortal Shell 2. Here’s what you need to know: The boss is a giant dragon that breathes Cosmic Flames. If you managed to find the Seedbearer’s Scripture in Night Mode, then the item’s active and passive effects ought to help with damage mitigation. Zmey likes to jump away at certain points. This is usually followed by a Blade Slam that causes Cosmic Flames to emanate in a straight line. You can just dodge sideways to avoid it. It sometimes stands around to cast Cascading Flare, which causes flames to erupt around you for several seconds. This is a great time to use the Seedbearer’s Scripture if you have it. The boss also has an attack that we’ve taken to calling The Teabag. Let’s just say that if you keep fighting it in melee range, you’ll see what’s right in front of you and what your foe does whenever a red icon flashes. We felt that Zmey was actually easier to beat compared to the Malborn Offspring. It might be because we’re using a fully powered-up Tiel shell with several perks unlocked. We dodged the boss’ attacks, which allowed us to go into stealth mode often. From there, we just kept striking it in melee, while activating Shadow Strike every now and then.  Shell summon: Tiel or Genessa Reward: N/A Survive Zmey's Cosmic Flames to stand a chance at beating it. That does it for our guide on how to defeat all major bosses in Mortal Shell 2. Now that the final boss has been vanquished, you can interact with the siphoning machine in Marrow Keep. If you pick the “Send Ova” option, it will take you straight to New Game Plus. If you don’t want to do that, then simply avoid picking the option. You can keep playing your current save/progression to discover anything you might’ve missed. Perhaps you still need to find various weapons/sidearms, shell locations, and maybe a secret location or two.
Title: PS5 Game Dev Says Sony Is Removing Its Catalog And Won’t Say Why Date: Mon, 17 Aug 2026 15:22:05 +0000 Link: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/ps5-game-dev-says-sony-is-removing-its-catalog-and-wont-say-why/ It appears Sony is preparing to remove an entire studio's library from the PlayStation Store after August 23, according to Ukrainian developer Ternox Games. The developer behind Stonks-9800, a stock market sim with an '80s vibe, took to X on August 16 to reveal the news. Ternox Games stated that, without any reason, their contract with Sony was "unilaterally terminated" and all of their games will be pulled soon. And now, Stonks-9800--which has been in Steam Early Access since July 2023 and has an "overwhelmingly positive" rating on the platform--will no longer make its way to PS5 as a result of this termination. https://twitter.com/Taimumari/status/2089021552012525708 "Sony PlayStation unilaterally terminated my PlayStation developer and publisher agreement without giving me any reason," the developer wrote. "My existing games are scheduled to be removed from the PlayStation Store after August 23." In a follow-up X post, Ternox Games said PlayStation Support "refuses to listen to my arguments or even respond to my emails in any way." As a result, Stonks-9800 is no longer launching on PlayStation 5, and they will no longer be able to self-publish on PlayStation. 13 games, some of which Ternox Games published, will be pulled after August 23. "I had hoped to release the PS5 version in 2027 and make a physical disc edition while that was still possible," the studio continued. "Sadly, that will not happen--but I'll do my best to create a physical edition for PC and Switch. I'm really sorry that this happened and that I failed the developers whose games I published. But there's nothing I can do about it now, unfortunately. I still have a tiny bit of hope that this decision will be reconsidered, so please share this message if you can." It's unclear why this is happening since Ternox Games' titles doesn't appear to fall under the shovelware category. However, due to Sony's "stricter guidelines" on shovelware, and the company's intent to remove as many of these games as possible, some online have suggested that Ternox Games got caught in the crossfire. Sony has been in hot water lately, especially following the announcement that the company plans to stop producing physical PlayStation discs in January 2028. Under just about every post and video the company puts out are comments from netizens decrying Sony's decision. It's come to the point where over 220,000 people have signed a petition urging the company to change its mind.
Title: All Ruk’s Maps And Fast Travel Beacons In Mortal Shell 2 Date: Mon, 17 Aug 2026 15:18:55 +0000 Link: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/mortal-shell-2-ruks-maps-fast-travel-beacons/ Are you trying to figure out the locations of all maps and fast travel beacons in Mortal Shell 2? The realm of Fallgrim has been ravaged by war and strife, and is now broken up into the regions of Fainweald and Mammon. You can easily feel lost if you’re not careful, which is why our guide aims to help you every step of the way. Oh, and because of the topic that we’re about to discuss, please know that there are a few minor spoilers ahead. In This Article Fast travel points and region maps in Mortal Shell 2Fainweald fast travel beacons and mapsFainweald beacon #1 (Widow’s Overlook) and map #1Fainweald beacon #2 (Blackridge Pass) and map #2Fainweald beacon #3 (Mushroom Village) and beacon #4 (Mushroom Village Gate)Fainweald beacon #5 (One-Legged Wolf) and map #3Fainweald beacon #6 (Stonebled Gate)Fainweald beacon #7 (Gloomshade Grove)Fainweald beacon #8 (Citadel of Penance) and map #4Fainweald beacon #9 (Outskirts of Nochte) and map #5Fainweald beacon #10 (Nochtean Gate)Ruins of Mammon fast travel beacons and mapsMammon beacon #1 (Outskirts of Mammon) and map #1Mammon beacon #2 (Abandoned Outpost)Mammon beacon #3 (High Lord’s Courtyard) and map #2Mammon beacon #4 (Gate of Mammon)Mammon map #3Mammon beacon #5 (Castigator’s Keep) and map #4Mammon beacon #6 (Gate of Infinity) and map #5Mammon beacon #7 (The Silent Steps)Mammon beacon #8 (Abbey Entrance) and map #6Mammon beacon #9 (Sester’s Gate) Fast travel points and region maps in Mortal Shell 2 There are dozens of fast travel points and maps in Mortal Shell 2. Our guide is organized into two main sections (one for Fainweald and one for the Ruins of Mammon). But, before we continue, let’s talk about the basics: Maps are given to you by Ruk, a crow-like entity that guides you throughout your journey. Each map only reveals a small part of the region. Beacons are similar to bonfires if you’ve played a lot of soulslike games before. You can replenish your health, resolve, and flask charges, but doing so also causes regular enemies to respawn. After the prologue and your first visit to Marrow Keep, you need to collect and siphon at least five additional Ova--i.e. UnderMether eggs. You can learn more about certain locations in our Fainweald exploration guide. Once you’ve done this, you’ll unlock a means of fast traveling to the beacons that you’ve tagged. Moreover, you’ll be able to remove corrupted vines and tendrils that block passageways. Marrow Keep acts as your main hub, so you’ll always be able to fast travel there. You may also revisit the two beacons from the prologue--i.e. Village Outskirts and Disciple’s Pass. The vast majority of Corrupted Gate major dungeons have three additional beacons (though one of them has four). The last beacon in a major dungeon only appears after defeating the dungeon's main boss. These beacons always contain 26x Ova to help with overall campaign progression. There are several beacons to unlock in each region. Fainweald fast travel beacons and maps The image below shows the locations of the Mortal Shell 2 beacons and maps in the region of Fainweald. In our playthrough, we went a bit to the south and north as we acquired the Tiel and Proxima shells. Then, continued to the southeast, before looping back to the north and west. The beacons and maps in the Fainweald region. Fainweald beacon #1 (Widow’s Overlook) and map #1 Widow’s Overlook in the Fainweald region is available by default, since it’s the only one that you could teleport to from Marrow Keep. From there, go south past the Great Arbiter of Flesh miniboss and look for a jump-off point at the base of a rock formation. Use the air current to jump up and grab the map from Ruk’s perch. The first map is near Tiel's grave. Fainweald beacon #2 (Blackridge Pass) and map #2 You can find another Mortal Shell 2 map and beacon just north of Widow’s Overlook. There, you’ll see a trial altar and, past that, there are two rope bridges. The one on the left leads to a map, and the one on the right leads to the beacon. Both of these are fairly close to where you unlock Proxima. Fainweald beacon #3 (Mushroom Village) and beacon #4 (Mushroom Village Gate) You can tag two more Fainweald beacons in quick succession: Enter the yard to the left of the grave where you found Tiel. Run past the Dancing Hags to spot the Mushroom Village beacon. Cross the rope bridges leading to the southeast to tag the Mushroom Village Gate beacon. You need to cleanse it to gain access to the Corrupted Gate: Glutted Mire. This Corrupted Gate ought to be the first major dungeon that you tackle. Fainweald beacon #5 (One-Legged Wolf) and map #3 Once you’re able to remove corrupted tendrils in the overworld, check the trial altar between the Mushroom Village and Mushroom Village Gate. Remove the tendrils past the chest surrounded by the Toxic Cultists. Just a short distance away, you’ll see the One-Legged Wolf beacon and another one of Ruk’s maps. Note: If you check the tavern, you'll find the Troubadour's Lute, which is one of the best early-game items. The Gragu shell can also be acquired from the same location. The Gragu shell and Troubadour's Lute are just a stone's throw away. Fainweald beacon #6 (Stonebled Gate) Here’s what you need to do to unlock this fast travel beacon in Mortal Shell 2: Go to the Stones of Remembrance graveyard and cleanse the northernmost corrupted vines. Forge ahead and use the bone gate to jump across the huge chasm. Follow the caverns leading to the north, then go up the steps. Note that this beacon needs to be cleansed if you wish to gain entry to the Corrupted Gate: Sanguine Caverns. This beacon unlocks the Sanguine Caverns. Fainweald beacon #7 (Gloomshade Grove) There’s a fairly well-hidden beacon in Mortal Shell 2. If you’re coming from the Stonebled Gate to the north, follow the tunnel that leads to the lower section. There’s a winding passage that takes you to a cavernous area where hunters are fighting a large Grisha monster. The beacon is at the edge of the cliff. Run past the Grisha Hunters and tag the beacon. Fainweald beacon #8 (Citadel of Penance) and map #4 Both of these are inside the Citadel of Penance: The beacon is to the right of the main gate. The map is close to the center by the market stalls. Have a chat with Ruk while avoiding all the soldiers in the Citadel of Penance. Fainweald beacon #9 (Outskirts of Nochte) and map #5 Make the long trek to the swamplands to the west: The beacon is in the shallow edge of the swamp. As for this Fainweald map in Mortal Shell 2, it’s atop a bluff near a ruined building. The map and beacon are in the "safer" area of the swamps. Fainweald beacon #10 (Nochtean Gate) The last beacon in Fainweald is all the way to the southwest. It’s right in front of the Corrupted Gate: Prisoners’ Domain. The beacon is in front of the Corrupted Gate in this fortress. Ruins of Mammon fast travel beacons and maps The image below has the locations of the Mortal Shell 2 beacons and maps in the Ruins of Mammon region (or just Mammon for short). You can freely explore the areas at your leisure. But for the sake of organizing everything properly, we did a circuitous route from the north to the west, followed by the south and the east. The maps and beacons in the Ruins of Mammon region. Mammon beacon #1 (Outskirts of Mammon) and map #1 Similar to the Widow’s Overlook, the Outskirts of Mammon beacon is already pre-cleansed. It’s the only one that’s available by default if you want to fast travel to the Mammon region. As for the map, it’s on a nearby bluff near the catapult that requires the Makeshift Projectile. Grab the map near the catapult. Mammon beacon #2 (Abandoned Outpost) This Mammon beacon in Mortal Shell 2 is somewhat easy to miss, but you definitely need to tag it. It’s not just because of all the enemies in nearby zones, but also because of the Collector vendor NPC that only appears when Night Mode/hard difficulty is toggled. Assuming you’re at the previous location--i.e. the catapult--look at the path below that leads to a bone gate by the cliff. Use it to jump across the gap, then loop around and jump down to spot the beacon. The Collector is near the Abandoned Outpost beacon. He only shows up when it's nighttime. Mammon beacon #3 (High Lord’s Courtyard) and map #2 Your trek to the northwest should eventually take you to the High Lord’s Courtyard beacon, which is also right next to one of Ruk’s perches. Just beyond, there’s a crypt that houses the Lazlo shell. The High Lord's Courtyard used to be one of the best gloom farming spots in the game. Mammon beacon #4 (Gate of Mammon) If you’re at the High Lord’s Courtyard, take the southern exit and ride the elevator downward. Then, use the jump gate to land close to the Lonesome Spire. The beacon here, once cleansed, grants access to the Corrupted Gate: Withered Shoals. The beacon unlocks the Withered Shoals, and it's also a good place to rest before you climb the Lonesome Spire. Mammon map #3 This Ruins of Mammon map in Mortal Shell 2 reveals your surroundings, but you’ll be hard-pressed to enjoy the scenery due to all the enemies. It’s halfway between the eastern part of the Lonesome Spire and the quarry area of the Deserted Slums. The enemies near Ruk's perch might catch you unawares. Mammon beacon #5 (Castigator’s Keep) and map #4 Both of these are in the Castigator’s Keep: The fastest way to unlock this beacon in Mortal Shell 2 is by going south from the Outskirts of Mammon, then jumping across the huge gap all the way to the other side. There are a bunch of enemies guarding the way, so be extra careful. You should then make a quick right so you can climb up the steps and tag the structure. Alternatively, you can reach Castigator’s Keep via the mining area/construction site in the lower bluffs just outside Lonesome Spire. The map is also along the cliffside area leading to the fortress, though you have to contend with a few Grisha Hunters. Have a chat with Ruk in the cliffside pass between Castigator's Keep and the mining area at the bluffs. Mammon beacon #6 (Gate of Infinity) and map #5 Both of these are directly south of Castigator’s Keep: From the Castigator’s Keep beacon, go past the courtyard and ride the lift to the top. Beat the Starved Harridan miniboss and pass straight ahead to the next area. There’s a wide space here, though pylons will cause enemies to come to life. To the right, you’ll find Ruk and another map. To your left, you’ll be able to complete a trial to acquire the Thief’s Stone. Now, if you keep going straight ahead up the steps, you’re going to see the Gate of Infinity beacon in the distance. Beware because numerous cultists surround the structure and they’re immune to damage. You must strike or shoot the blue flame lantern to remove their immunity. Oh, and it’s imperative that you cleanse the Gate of Infinity beacon so you can gain access to the Corrupted Gate: Faded Citadel. Watch out for the invincible Cultists. Mammon beacon #7 (The Silent Steps) To tag this fast travel beacon in Mortal Shell 2, return to the area with the previous map and the Thief’s Stone trial. Then, cross the chasm via the stone pathway. Continue traversing this section until you see a beacon guarded by a couple of Giant Snails. The bone gate near the beacon leads to the Sariel boss fight. Mammon beacon #8 (Abbey Entrance) and map #6 There are several paths that take you to the Sester’s Abbey. If you want a quick route to the beacon: Go back to the Outskirts of Mammon--i.e. Mammon beacon #1--and run to the southeastern edge of the landmass. Watch out for bear traps, then use the bone gate to jump to the east. Clear out or avoid the enemies until you see the lit beacon past the corridor. Alternatively, you can use the air currents past the Revenant Graves to keep jumping to the top. This Mammon map in Mortal Shell 2, meanwhile, can be found due south of the Revenant Graves in the Sester’s Abbey: Keep going up the steps while fending off Sester-type enemies, all while watching out for Exploding Stalkers. Eventually, you’ll come across a tower that has a chest that requires offerings--i.e. light the three candles. Keep climbing up the spiral steps to meet up with Ruk. Don't forget to tag the beacon (left) and pick up the map (right) on your way to the Sester's Gate. Mammon beacon #9 (Sester’s Gate) The final beacon in the Mammon region is at the southeastern corner of the Sester’s Abbey. Dozens of Sester enemies are going to waylay you if you’re not careful, so try your best to survive. Cleansing this beacon also unlocks the Corrupted Gate: Conquered Temple. Evade a gauntlet of enemies to reach the Corrupted Gate beacon. That does it for our guide on where to find all fast travel beacons and maps in Mortal Shell 2. Title: Street Fighter’s Ken Promises “Hundreds” Of Easter Eggs In A Movie That “Knows What It Is” Date: Mon, 17 Aug 2026 15:15:37 +0000 Link: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/street-fighters-ken-promises-hundreds-of-easter-eggs-in-a-movie-that-knows-what-it-is/ Noah Centineo, who portrays Ken in Capcom and Paramount's upcoming Street Fighter movie, teased the upcoming video game adaptation in a recent interview. He says it's the kind of over-the-top movie that "knows what it is" and is filled with "hundreds" of Easter eggs that'll make fans happy. The Black Adam and To All the Boys I've Loved Before actor was asked about the "big swings" the Street Fighter movie takes on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. In response, Centineo hyped up the movie, admitting that it is a bit silly but that he had a ton of fun making it. "This movie is so f**king fun and big, and you can tell that we had a hell of a time making it and people will have a hell of a time watching it. And that's what matters. This is a big spectacle, tentpole high-octane action film. It knows what it is. It comes from a rich source material." He connected his passion for the project to his own experiences playing Street Fighter 2 with his cousins growing up. Centineo also recalled a security guard who was "amped up" and told him he loved the movie when it was screened to some cast and crew of the upcoming Gundam movie he's also starring in. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ofP1KcWijM He thinks the number of Easter eggs and references to the source material will endear the Street Fighter movie to fans of the franchise. "If you're a fan of the game, I believe you're going to recognize the hundreds of Easter eggs and one-liners and signature moves and all the little intricate details that [director] Kitao and every single actor researched and worked to make sure that we just crammed, bookended it with these little Easter eggs," Centineo said. Whereas Capcom's upcoming Resident Evil movie is distancing itself from the games and telling an independent, original story, Centineo's comments confirm that Street Fighter is headed in the opposite direction. While the movie's trailers already left little room for doubt, Centineo's comments affirm that the goal with Street Fighter was to create a campy yet endearing tribute to the fighting game franchise. With Street Fighter and Resident Evil coming out so close to each other, it'll certainly be interesting to see which one does better at the box office and resonates with audiences more. Street Fighter will hit theaters on October 16.
Title: This Switch Game That Reached 1 Million Players Is Closing Official Servers Soon Date: Mon, 17 Aug 2026 15:07:13 +0000 Link: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/this-switch-game-that-reached-1-million-players-is-closing-official-servers-soon/ The Switch version of the dinosaur-survival game Ark: Survival Evolved is ramping down its online support. Developer Studio Wildcard announced "with wistful hearts" that official servers for the Ark: Survival Evolved and its Ultimate Survivor Edition will shut down on August 31. The game reached "over a million players" on Switch since the game launched in 2018. The Ultimate Survivor Edition is a remaster made by Grove Street Games. "We want to thank everyone who has been a part of this journey," the developers said. Ark's single-player modes and unofficial servers will remain "fully playable" after the official servers go dark on August 31. That's a nice silvering lining, though playing online with other people is one of the game's main appeals. Unofficial servers will help people keep playing online, but it might not be as easy or the experience as consistent. Ahead of the shutdown for official servers, Survival Evolved is available for $5 on the eShop, while the Ultimate Survivor Edition is marked down to $12.50. Both games are playable on Nintendo Switch 2 via backward compatibility. The latest Ark game, Survival Ascended, is not available on Switch, but Studio Wildcard is working on it.

Title: Class Is in Session: GeForce NOW Levels Up Linux, Chromebooks and More Date: Thu, 13 Aug 2026 13:00:33 +0000 Link: https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/geforce-now-thursday-linux-native-app/ GeForce NOW is giving cloud gaming an extra-credit upgrade just in time for back-to-school season. The native Linux app for GeForce NOW is officially out of beta. GeForce NOW is also delivering new cloud optimizations that make Frame Generation feel even more responsive while streaming. On top of that, Performance members will see higher frame rates in demanding games thanks to a CPU performance adjustment.  Plus, learn how GeForce NOW can add high-performance GeForce RTX gaming to the Chromebooks students already rely on for school – and how eligible new owners can take advantage of Chromebook Fast Pass. It all adds up to more ways to move from assignments to adventures across nearly any device. The only homework left is to decide what to play. This week, nine new games join the GeForce NOW library. The Cloud Gets Extra Credit GeForce NOW keeps getting better. The native Linux app for GeForce NOW has officially graduated from beta. Built on months of community feedback, the release focuses on performance, stability and polish while continuing to support Ubuntu 24.04 and later. A new Flatpack repository makes getting started and receiving future updates even easier. Visit the download page for more information and instructions. The cloud handles the rendering, so Linux gamers can tap into the latest GeForce RTX performance while staying on their preferred setup — without local hardware upgrades, compatibility headaches or complicated workarounds. Smooth gameplay makes the grade. GeForce NOW has also optimized DLSS Frame Generation in the cloud, reducing latency and making games feel more responsive. The improvements are especially noticeable when streaming at 60 or 120 frames per second in 1440p and 4K, helping every mouse movement and camera pan feel more immediate. Performance members will also enjoy additional server software optimizations to improve frame rates in select CPU-intensive games, helping demanding titles run more smoothly while delivering an even better gameplay experience. The cloud-side upgrade happens automatically, with nothing for members to install or configure, and at no additional cost. From Class Mode to Game Mode Class dismissed. Game on. Chromebooks already in backpacks can double as a PC gaming powerhouse, with GeForce NOW giving everyday school setups extra credit.  Chromebooks handling lectures, group projects and browser tabs can transform into high-performance GeForce RTX gaming PCs in just a few clicks. When class is out, open a supported browser or app and stream more than 2,000 supported PC games from existing libraries, with the cloud handling the heavy lifting. The same flexibility extends to Macs, Surface devices, everyday laptops, Steam Deck and mobile devices. Plus, eligible new Chromebook and Chromebook+ owners can claim a year of GeForce NOW at no cost with Chromebook Fast Pass, with priority access and no ads.  Study. Stream PC games. Title: Best in Class: Stream PC Games and Study on the Same Laptop With GeForce NOW Date: Thu, 30 Jul 2026 13:00:20 +0000 Link: https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/geforce-now-thursday-back-to-school-2026/ Back to school means balancing assignments, deadlines and downtime. GeForce NOW makes it easy to have it all. With cloud gaming, everyday laptops used for class can also become GeForce RTX-powered gaming setups.  When it’s time to switch from studying to gaming, members can jump into Halo: Campaign Evolved, as GeForce NOW is bringing one of the gaming world’s most celebrated titles to nearly any device through the cloud, alongside eight total games joining the GeForce NOW library this week. From A+ to AAA Gaming  This back-to-school season, the easiest upgrade isn’t replacing laptops in backpacks. It’s unlocking even more from these same laptops, from creating to gaming. With a GeForce NOW membership, Chromebooks, Macs and Surface devices can become GeForce RTX-powered gaming PCs in the cloud. The GeForce NOW library features thousands of supported PC games, letting members stream titles they already own from digital stores like Steam, Xbox PC Game Pass and Epic Games Store in just a few clicks. The cloud keeps games up to date and ready to play, making it easy to jump into a match between classes, after homework or whenever there’s free time. Time spent waiting on downloads, patches and installs becomes time spent in game instead. The Ultimate membership enables best-in-class experiences by delivering 5080-class performance in the cloud with NVIDIA DLSS, ray tracing and NVIDIA Reflex technologies for responsive, visually rich gameplay — all on the hardware gamers already own. A creator known as “Menguiny” recently put this to the test after picking up a MacBook Neo. GeForce NOW turned the laptop — usually the creator’s go-to for editing videos and everyday work — into a top-notch gaming machine, too. Another creator, “TechWithSeong” highlighted that same versatility GeForce NOW offers. Rather than juggling separate devices for work and gaming, he used GeForce NOW Ultimate to stream supported PC games across the devices he already owns — from a MacBook used for editing to gaming on the go with handheld devices. Gamers can start with a day pass and experience all the premium benefits without a monthly commitment. Plus, the cost of a day pass can be applied toward a first membership purchase — it’s like earning a little extra credit along the way. Everyone, at Their Stations Needlers never looked so sharp. Experience the Master Chief’s iconic journey on GeForce NOW in Halo: Campaign Evolved — a modernized remake of Halo: Combat Evolved’s campaign — rebuilt with high-definition visuals, updated cinematics and refined gameplay. Whether discovering Halo for the first time or returning after 25 years to finish the fight, it’s as the Master Chief says: “We’re just getting started.” Crash-land on the mysterious ringworld alongside Cortana and uncover great secrets while battling overwhelming Covenant forces. Fight through the rebuilt campaign, then continue the adventure with three brand-new missions featuring the Master Chief and Sergeant Johnson. Expanded weapons, iconic vehicles, hijackable Wraith tanks and optional Skull modifiers offer even more ways to play. Suit up across PCs, Macs, Chromebooks, handhelds, mobile devices, TVs and more with GeForce NOW Ultimate, powered by GeForce RTX 5080-class performance in the cloud. Experience Halo with NVIDIA DLSS, ray tracing and NVIDIA Reflex technologies delivering higher frame rates and ultralow latency that keep every firefight feeling responsive and worthy of a Spartan. From solo gaming to online co-op modes, GeForce NOW cloud saves let members log in and pick up exactly where they left off across supported devices — no lengthy downloads, extra storage space or expensive hardware upgrades required. Title: Hands-on report: Marvel’s Wolverine Date: Thu, 13 Aug 2026 15:00:03 +0000 Link: https://blog.playstation.com/2026/08/13/hands-on-report-marvels-wolverine/ It’s been a big week for fans of Marvel’s Wolverine, starting with the announcement of sharp-looking PS5 hardware and accessories. Now, with just over a month away until its September 15 launch, Insomniac is sharing a deep dive on the game’s story, combat, and exploration thanks to an extensive hands-on session with the game.   Our two-hour session kicked off with the game’s opening mission in the wilds of Telambang, where Wolverine has reunited with Team X to carry out a critical mission infiltrating the facility of anti-mutant industrialist Bolivar Trask. After slicing our way to a daring rescue, we jumped ahead in the game to a bombastic boss fight and a taste of Madripoor’s Lowtown. Between brutal barrages, stealthy scouting, and a range of rage-filled takedowns, we got to cut to the bone of the game’s story, flesh out Wolverine’s allies and foes, and uncover a piece of his buried past.   Taking on Trask  From the game’s opening moments flashing back to a feral, mangy-haired, and memory-wiped Wolverine, every sequence tested the balance between his rage and humanity. The first mission reunites him with Team X, a mutant task force formed by Nathaniel Essex to help protect mutants. Wolverine had stepped away from the group, something that has rankled his teammates, a wry Mystique and ever-savage Sabretooth.   Their mission takes them from the hidden facility of billionaire Bolivar Trask to the seedy backstreets of Madripoor, presenting Wolverine with the grim reality of what mutants in this world are facing. With mutants largely unknown by society, Trask has been spending his billions abducting, studying, and cruelly disposing of mutants with little regard for his victims in a quest to maintain human superiority. As the nefarious reality of the facility’s purpose becomes clearer, the horror Wolverine feels quickly pools into an unbridled rage. That rage drives him forward through throngs of Reaver enemies and a run in with Omega Red to eventually free Essex, who has been held captive by Trask.   Essex is the one who found Wolverine years before in that feral state, and formed Team X to protect mutants and build a world where mutants can be open. Between Essex and Trask, Wolverine is faced with the lengths some will go to protect the future of their kind, and will challenge him to face what kind of person he wants to be in this future.   Sink your claws in  Between storylines and set pieces, my biggest takeaway from my time with Marvel’s Wolverine was that it feels dang good to sink those claws in. Wolverine doesn’t just attack enemies, he catapults himself at them, targeting and launching himself from across the room to stun or barrage. Every combat encounter becomes a furious flurry, where my adrenaline feels directly tied to Wolverine’s increasing rage.  While a simple parry and barrage can get the job done, Wolverine can unlock a number of Special Techniques, skills that can be upgraded and mapped to the directional buttons for an extra flair in a fight. In my playthrough, I could cleave through a group surrounding me with Tornado Spin, or interrupt enemy attacks with Knee Breaker. Players can also unlock Adaptations, which upgrade long-term effects and skills like Logan’s health and rage meter.  That rage will come in handy. Successful combos build up Wolverine’s rage meter, which rises through three Rage Tiers to dramatically alter his fighting style. As Wolverine enters Rage Tier 2, his combos become more powerful and he unlocks Last Stand, which allows him to use his rage to heal his body if fully downed. But things really go over the edge when Wolverine’s meter fills to Rage Tier 3. His attacks become significantly more powerful, while brutal critical strikes become available. His vision seems to close in, his breathing getting louder and more primal as he darts between enemies, slicing and dicing with ease. Those critical strikes can lead to some dangerously fun takedowns, like snatching a member of The Hand’s katana or bow to slam back into them.   Sometimes, Wolverine needs a more methodical approach. He can use his Enhanced Senses to track and takedown enemies more stealthily. Trask also has Ability Inhibitors at his disposal that block Wolverine and his teammates from using their abilities. In these moments, he must work past the pain and fight without healing, focusing on taking enemies down with classic combat moves and destroying the Inhibitors before it’s too late.  It took all the skills I had gathered so far to take on the looming Sentinel Prototype towards the end of my preview. Built by Trask to detect and destroy mutants, this fight took all of Wolverine’s patience and strategy, dodging or parrying the Sentinel’s powerful attacks, while waiting for the perfect moments to strike. This sequence was thrilling both to use Wolverine’s abilities to their fullest potential, and to watch as he worked in tandem with Mystique and Sabretooth. By the time I was busting through the Sentinel’s head victorious, I had a wild grin on my face and felt amped and ready to take on anyone.   More to explore  Luckily after that fight, there was still more to explore. In Madripoor, surrounded by allies new and old, we took a moment of respite in Princess Bar (run by Tyger). Here we got to interact with newly acquired ally Jean Grey, and the mutant teens she has been protecting. Though they are still a mystery to one another, Jean and Wolverine’s connection is immediate. It’s with her that he can admit that his anger sometimes scares him and that he wants to be better.  I enjoyed that Wolverine also makes time here for his teammates Mystique and Sabretooth. Mystique stays focused and on mission during combat, shifting through identities when needed. Here in Princess Bar, she can just be herself, and encourages Wolverine to do the same through a friendly but vulnerable game of Never Have I Ever. Sabretooth spends most of the game’s opening antagonizing Wolverine and calling him a runt, which is fair enough given he stands about as tall as Sabretooth’s navel. But it’s clear their relationship runs deeper, and Sabretooth feels spurned by Wolverine’s original exit from the group.   While exploring the streets of Lowtown, I could take the time to check out some of Wolverine’s other looks and claw types, which ranged from a classic undershirt and jeans outfit to a Weapon X helmeted style. While walking around the Princess Bar, Wolverine’s Enhanced Senses could pick up on conversation or music that could guide him to specific rooms, or trail a teammate’s scent to find where they’ve run off to. Exploring each room sometimes led to a conversation, or finding easter eggs, like Mystique’s wedding pictures, or an IOU written on an ace of spades card from one Remy LeBeau.   Take the time to explore each new location, as Wolverine can discover hidden crates with raw upgrade materials or collectable whisky bottles. Logan can also stumble across Nightmare Doors, which transport him to a dreamlike cabin to take part in a Nightmare Trial. These timed speed trials reimagine different locations from the game into a vertical fever dream, where he can race to the end to unlock a forgotten memory from his past.   Players can sink their claws into Wolverine’s story and tap into his rage when Marvel’s Wolverine launches September 15 on PS5 consoles.

Title: I'm not saying Bethesda are trolling me specifically, but Fallout 4 and Skyrim updates are imminent just as I've modded up the latter for the first time in ages Date: Mon, 17 Aug 2026 15:51:22 +0000 Link: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/fallout-4-and-skyrim-updates-are-imminent-just-as-ive-modded-up-the-latter-for-the-first-time-in-ages Right, just a couple more location overhauls and there we go. A fresh Skyrim load order created for my first modded toe-dip into Tamriel for quite a while, outside of grabbing the odd article image. Phew, now to relax and sink another 50 hou-wait. Fallout 4 and Skyrim updates are inbound, say Bethesda? Well, that would be my luck, wouldn't it? Read more
Title: Mortal Shell 2 review: A monumental heavy metal sequel with the spirit of a '90s PC game Date: Mon, 17 Aug 2026 14:33:22 +0000 Link: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/mortal-shell-2-review-a-monumental-heavy-metal-sequel-with-the-spirit-of-a-90s-pc-game A few hours into your sojourn across Mortal Shell 2's harsh realm of Fainweald, you might stumble upon a tavern called The One Legged Wolf. In a monstrous land inhabited by pasty-faced brigands who refer to you as "brev" right before shanking you, this watering hole exudes novelty. Here, said thugs congregate to make merry and listen to the strums of the shirtless lute-player on stage. Even if you do as I did, and accidentally massacre the guy with a shot from your sidearm, nobody minds. The One Legged Wolf is a weird, memorable place where folk are free to do their own thing. In many ways, The One Legged Wolf is emblematic of Mortal Shell 2, a sequel that stands out from the pack by melding the modern dark fantasy Soulslike with a willingness to ditch genre formula, a cheeky sense of humour, and the DNA of a PC-only game from yesteryear. The result is a goth cousin of more mainstream fare like Elden Ring, not to mention a phenomenal effort that outclasses its predecessor in a manner that we probably haven't seen since The Witcher III. Title: Sraëka Lillian's one-a-week RPG "sketches" are a lovely series of experiments with hoary old conventions from Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest Date: Mon, 17 Aug 2026 13:39:43 +0000 Link: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/sraeka-lillians-one-a-week-rpg-sketches-are-a-lovely-series-of-experiments-with-hoary-old-conventions-from-final-fantasy-and-dragon-quest There's a running joke in the world of THEA-TAH that Shakespeare's Hamlet is a play made up entirely of quotations. I often get the same feeling when I play a fantasy RPG, and especially a fantasy RPG created with toolkits such as EasyRPG or RPG Maker that come with their own freely reusable assets, resulting in a slew of homebrew RPGs that can seem interchangeable, on the surface.
