Title: Nioh 3 review - Team Ninja’s most accomplished action game, and the series’ most accessible Date: Wed, 04 Feb 2026 13:59:26 +0000 Link: https://www.vg247.com/nioh-3-review-pc The moment Nioh 3 was revealed as Team Ninja’s next project, it immediately jumped to the top of my most anticipated games of 2026. That excitement was dampened somewhat when the studio revealed the game’s “open field” level design. I am very much over open-world games, but I was particularly worried that we were about to get the Nioh version of Rise of the Ronin - which, really, was itself Nioh-lite in an open world. Read more

Title: CoD Season 2 Patch Notes Detail Changes To Perks, Maps, And Scorestreaks Date: Wed, 04 Feb 2026 14:29:00 -0800 Link: https://www.gamespot.com/gallery/cod-season-2-patch-notes-detail-changes-to-perks-maps-and-scorestreaks/2900-7459/ Call of Duty Season 2 goes live in Black Ops 7 and Warzone on February 5, and the latest patch notes reveal major changes across all modes. These includes perk and scorestreak changes for multiplayer, map fixes for Zombies, and perk and Buy Station changes for Warzone.Content-wise, Season 2 of Black Ops 7 and Warzone includes a brand-new battle pass, DLC weapons, more maps, and a Blackout battle royale experience for Warzone. The Season 2 battle pass introduces over a hundred new cosmetics and items to Call of Duty. This includes Victoria Atwood as a new operator, Phantom as the new BlackCell-exclusive operator, additional weapon blueprints, CoD Points, and more. The Season 2 patch notes for both Black Ops 7 and Warzone can be found below, as shared by Activision. Multiplayer perk and Wildcard adjustmentsA few perk changes arrive with Season 2 of Black Ops 7. The Scout Hybrid Combat Specialty has been adjusted to no longer allow Scout to counter an enemy HARP. Instead, a player with an active Scout buff should appear as a red dot. For the Recon Combat Specialty, the update addresses an issue where the Recon Perk bonus was not displaying red cone indicators.Lastly, the Specialist Wildcard has been fixed. This corrects an issue that caused players to not hear audio cues when earning bonus perks. Multiplayer scorestreak changesThe Care Package streak in Black Ops 7 now contains the returning Black Ops 6 Scorestreaks, and an issue is addressed with the Deadeye Drone's proximity chat not functioning as expected. The DAWG streak is also adjusted. The DAWG now receives 20% less damage while in Sentry Mode (Overclock) and there is improved server stability when a DAWG is on the map. Zombies map fixesSeason 2 is packed with small fixes to the Ashes of the Damned and Astra Malorum maps. These includes a fix for an issue where quest-specific intel would not spawn on Ashes of the Damned after the player reloaded a save. The update also corrects bugs with various quests and fights involving the Zursa bear enemy type.Notably, the update fixes the issue that previously caused the Mystery Box to not relocate on the Astra Malorum map after becoming dormant in Abyssal Rim or Crash Site locations. Zombies perk fixesSeveral perk-a-colas get fixed in Season 2. Most notably, there are two fixes for the Vulture Aid perk. This includes an issue where the Condor's Reach augment would not work with armor plates, and another bug that prevented the Vulture Aid Armor-Matic augment from working if the player only had level one armor.Season 1's Mule Kick perk gets several changes:Addressed an issue where Max Ammo did not grant the max amount of Tactical Equipment with Mule Kick Fully Equipped augmentAddressed an issue where players with Mule Kick would hold a pistol instead of a Ray Gun when downed if the Ray Gun was their third weaponMule Kick will now refill the player's stock ammo only on the first purchase of the perkMule Kick's Pack Mule augment now works as intendedThe update also addressed an issue where Death Perception's Hidden Gems augment was not highlighting loot through objects as intended. New Warzone win streak rewardsSeason 1 introduced new win streak camo rewards for Warzone. The Season 1 camos will no longer be available to earn with the launch of Season 2.The update introduces a new set of camo rewards, and these can be seen in the image above.Battle royale:10 consecutive wins – Stabilimentum Static Camo25 consecutive wins – Chroma Mire Animated CamoResurgence:30 consecutive wins – Metallic Shade Static Camo50 consecutive wins – Stereogramic Animated Camo Warzone killstreak restrictionsSeason 2 introduces changes to call-in restrictions for killstreaks. These restrictions now better reflect individual call-ins, which the developer says should reduce issues with multiple streaks being used at the same location.Players will see the "Airspace Crowded" notification less often. However, players will now see "At Your Active Limit" when attempting to immediately call in the same killstreak again. Warzone killstreak changesSeason 2 makes adjustments to killstreaks which the developer says is designed to "increase the lethality of these killstreaks" while keeping them in line with some of the season's other changes. It will now require four combined UAVs to activate a map-wide Advanced UAV."Due to the vast amount of UAVs that are called match to match, especially when compared to other killstreaks, we are increasing the effort to activate the Advanced UAV in this regard," the developer says.Warzone's Cluster Strikes are improved with quicker strikes. The streak's missile travel time is reduced, and the strikes will now arrive 1.75 seconds faster.Several improvements are made to Napalm Strikes:Explosive damage increased from 150 to 300Explosion radius increased from 8m to 10mIndividual bomb spread increased from 11m to 15m apartFire patch damage now deals 100 damage per second while standing in fireFire patch length increased from 30m to 40mFire patch width increased from 6m to 8m Warzone perk changesAs previously announced, Season 2 overhauls the first perk slot for Warzone. This will replace some of the game's existing perks with three new options. The new Field Medic perk replaces the Veteran perk. This perk lets players revive teammates 25% faster. When they revive an ally, they immediately receive an inserted armor plate from their inventory and a brief movement-speed boost to help them reposition. Field Medic also increases a player's bleed-out duration by 25% and provides resistance to several tactical effects, including flash, concussion, gas, and shock equipment.Drill Instructor replaces the Grenadier perk. After sprinting for a short duration, the player will begin regenerating health. Nearby allies gain increased movement speed and faster mantling. These perk bonuses apply to allies within proximity and will persist for 10 seconds after they move out of range. However, Drill Instructor effects do not stack, meaning players won't get additional bonuses if other teammates are running the same perk.Surveyor replaces the Cold-Blooded perk. This perk pings enemies on the map within 120-meters range when they interact with Buy Stations or activate Contracts.UAVs the player deploys will cover a 20% larger area and the mini-map is zoomed out to give a broader view. Additionally, Surveyor highlights downed enemies through walls within closer range, making it easier to track threats during fights. Warzone weapon balancingSeason 2's weapon balancing for Warzone focuses on assault rifles. The developer says the changes are designed to "enhance assault rifle effectiveness at long range" and make the FMJ attachment a "more compelling option."This includes damage range increases for the AK-26, MXR-17, and Peacekeeper MK1 assault rifles. The Maverick X9 also received considerable adjustments to attachments to better decrease recoil, and the 4.73 Caseless FMJ attachment now offers improved damage range and bullet velocity. Buy Station changesThe cost of UAVs at Buy Stations has been increased from $6,000 to $8,000 on all maps. For standard battle royale on Verdansk, the Buy Station spawn locations have been re-randomized to provide new locations for Season 2. CoD Season 2 patch notes Welcome to Season 02 Season 02 ups the ante with a colossal amount of content, including new and returning Multiplayer Maps and Modes; a new Zombies Survival Map; Guild Strikes, Nightmare Zones, and the Eagle Eye Skill Track in Endgame; new Weapons; new Weekly Challenges; and more, including the launch of Multiplayer Ranked Play. Season 02 goes live tomorrow, February 5.The Story So Far The Guild may be down, but it’s not out. Alden Dorne has a secret weapon and a key ally: neural scientist Victoria Atwood. The ruthless and ambitious Atwood leads The Guild’s technology branch, and her leadership spearheading the company’s most clandestine research programs is about to yield dividends. After capturing David Mason for Project Synapse, Dorne works closely with Atwood, using Mason’s mind to try and recreate the technology behind C-Link. Why invoke fear when you can control all emotions?New and Returning MapsTorment (6v6)The tendrils have taken hold and blood rains from the sky in Torment, a new small-sized Multiplayer map. Atwood is at work here, attempting to extract C-link data, and created this “Torment”; a mix of David Mason’s memories and fears.Sake (6v6)Fight now, celebrate later as Operators deploy to a Japanese sake factory in this mid-sized map featuring a Production facility, Depot, and Steaming Room. Visitors to the factory can learn about the brewing process through intricate Displays and within the Exhibit.Nexus (6v6, 2v2)Battle erupts in David Mason’s hallucination of a subzero testing facility where TVs with a red static signal are lodged into the ice. As Victoria Atwood tortures Mason’s mind to extract his C-Link data, this twisted vision takes shape in his psyche.Slums (6v6)The fan-favorite Slums Multiplayer map first seen in Black Ops 2 returns! Duke it out around the central Plaza, one of the most iconic Multiplayer map locations in the Black Ops series, adjacent to the infamous Electronics chokepoint providing cover in a tight space at a meeting point between the middle and bottom lanes. New WeaponsREV-46 (SMG, Battle Pass)Full-auto submachine gun. Extremely fast fire rate. Switch between a folded and unfolded stock position to change handling and recoil characteristics.Sporting the highest fire rate in its class at a blazing fast 1,111 rpm, the REV-46 is flexible both literally and figuratively, with a stock you can fold and unfold.EGRT-17 (Assault Rifle, Battle Pass)Full-auto assault rifle. Fires superheated rounds that ricochet off solid surfaces.Second only to the Peacekeeper MK1 in fire rate, the EGRT-17 Assault Rifle rapidly outputs rounds, dealing impressive damage to the body and head, with the added feature of ricocheting rounds to catch enemy targets in the rebound.H311-SAW (Melee, Battle Pass)Melee weapon. High damage, moderate to long range, and slow to moderate attack speed.Hack up the competition with a rotating saw that makes short work of enemies. The H311-SAW shares a similar damage profile as the Knife and Flatline Mk.II, but with a longer reach and a slightly slower attack speed, and the results are messier.GDL Havoc (Week 1 Weekly Challenge Reward)Pump-action grenade launcher. Grenades stick to solid surfaces and can be remote detonated. No ADS.Enjoy the look on the enemy’s faces as you fire flashing sticky grenades that latch onto the first solid surface they encounter. Shoot volleys of them at enemy targets, use them as traps on the ground and walls, and pull the trigger to set them off. Returning Multiplayer ModeSafeguardIn this high-tension game mode not seen in many years, teams alternate escorting a non-combative robot into enemy territory along a set path. Fight off enemies to reach the robot’s destination near the defending team’s spawn. At least one Operator must be near the robot for it to continue down its path. The defending team must work together to prevent the robot from reaching its objective within the round time limit. Stall the attacking team by downing Operators near the robot, halting its forward progress, and by unleashing damaging attacks on the robot itself, forcing it to shut down and reboot as the clock keeps ticking. Multiplayer Ranked PlayThe definitive Ranked Play experience returns for Black Ops 7! Compete using the same settings, maps, modes, and weapon restrictions as the Call of Duty League® to earn and progress your Rank and unlock exclusive Ranked rewards. Competition begins with the launch of Season. Note: Read on, or consult the Competitive Settings Page of the Call of Duty League Website here, for the available Modes, Maps, Game Settings, and Restricted Items in this mode. In addition to Restricted Items listed on the Call of Duty League Website, any items not used by Pro players in CDL competition due to “Gentleman’s Agreements” between players (“GAs”) will be restricted in Ranked Play. This ensures that the Ranked Play experience matches what you see in official Black Ops 7 Call of Duty League competition as closely as possible. When Multiplayer Ranked Play launches in Season 02, RICOCHET Anti-Cheat™ will require a stronger form of Remote Attestation for PC players, in partnership with Microsoft. This extra layer of protection sets a new standard for Ranked Play, building on our existing TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot requirements. If you’re a PC player and need more information about security requirements, click here. Placement Matches How you earn your starting Rank has changed in Black Ops 7 Ranked Play with the addition of Placement Matches! Placement Matches get you into higher Ranks significantly faster than in Black Ops 6 and make starting your Ranked Play career easier than ever. Players start Unranked and must win three Placement Matches to receive a starting Rank. After each Placement Match Win, your Minimum Starting Rank will update to show a projection of where you’re expected to place. Win three Placement Matches to receive your starting Rank and begin your climb! SR (Skill Rating) When you receive a starting Rank, you’ll also receive a starting SR (Skill Rating) number. Your SR directly corresponds to your Rank and Tier: Win to Earn SR: Earn SR after each Ranked Play win — the amount you receive is directly related to your performance in the match relative to the skill of the other players, your team’s margin of victory. How SR is Calculated: If you’re seeing large SR gains after wins, it’s a good indicator that the Skill Rating system considers you to currently be a lower Rank than you deserve to be based on your recent performances. Continue to win matches to increase your SR and climb towards promotion into higher Ranks.SR Losses: When you lose in Ranked Play, you’ll also lose SR. This is similarly determined by your performance and the other match factors outlined above.Loss Forgiveness: Occasionally, an SR Loss will be forgiven to minimize frustration and ensure a fair playing field: New Season Protection: Your first three Losses of the Season won’t result in SR Losses (kicks in after Placement Matches).Rank Up Protection: If you get promoted into a higher Rank, your first 3 Losses in that new Rank won’t result in SR Losses.Daily Loss Protection: Your first Loss of the Day won’t result in a SR loss.Matchmade Teammate Quit: To reduce the frustration of having to play shorthanded, you will not lose SR if you lose a match where a matchmade teammate quit while the match was in progress. This does not apply if a player in your party quits, however.Matchmade Teammate Rejoined: Your SR Loss is reduced in the case that a matchmade teammate quits but then rejoins the match later. These devices include the Cronus Zen and the XIM Matrix. Ranked Play Requirements When Multiplayer Ranked Play launches in Season 02, RICOCHET Anti-Cheat™ will require a stronger form of Remote Attestation for PC players, in partnership with Microsoft. This extra layer of protection sets a new standard for Ranked Play, building on our existing TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot requirements. If you’re a PC player and need more information about security requirements, click here. Anti-Teaming Updates We’re implementing additional measures to detect and address various forms of unfair player behavior, including: Enemies suspiciously sharing cash currency (data gathering & in-game detection)Botting behavior detection (data gathering only)Anti-teaming behavior detection (data gathering & in-game detection) Continuing our anti-teaming efforts from the previous chapter, players who team with enemy squads will be detected in-game. Repeated kills of the same enemy or enemy team will also be flagged by our system for analysis. If players continue to engage in unfair behavior, an in-game message in Warzone Ranked Play will alert them that SR is being reduced to zero for an unfair kill. The team sees these measures as building blocks towards our goal to create a robust system that detects and prevents unfair player behavior. Players can expect ongoing, strong enforcement against teaming, including seasonal and permanent Ranked Play bans. Anti-teaming detection consists of three components: Data Gathering (combination of existing and new data gathering algorithms)In-game detection (new)SR penalties for severe or repeated behavior Resulting in kills granting 0 SR and the activity being logged for the team to review We’re implementing analytics-based detection for botting behavior. As part of our continued efforts to combat unfair play, new metrics will track bot usage and coordinated efforts to boost accounts via botting. This data will be used by the team to issue Ranked Plays bans where appropriate. We’re also implementing new metrics to detect enemies sharing cash suspiciously. Players may see an in-game message reading “Cash owned by enemy team” when picking up cash that was suspiciously dropped by an enemy. This will only trigger when the game detects activity above a relatively strict suspicion threshold - the goal is for most players to not encounter this. We will continue to monitor feedback and data as these components go live. Overall, recurring instances of the outlined behavior will be detected by the game, and the collected data will be used by our team to issue Ranked Play bans at a larger and more accurate scale. In the meantime, please continue to use our in-game reporting tool to flag bad actors and provide feedback via social media channels. For additional details, check out the RICOCHET Anti-Cheat™ Season 02 Update.MAPSRebirth Island Winter Refresh Our Rebirth Island update brings a fresh layer of intensity to the island with a new point of interest, environmental additions, and winter-themed gameplay updates - all while keeping the soul of Rebirth Island intact. Snowstorms closing in, infil gas explosions, and new or updated gameplay elements reshape familiar spaces, and The Guild has left its mark by reworking select locations.Turbine New Point-of-InterestThe massive turbine now dominates the center of the POI, immediately changing how players approach mid-game rotations and engagements. Its strong verticality, multiple access points, and interior paths create layered combat scenarios, making it a powerful location to contest, control, and defend.Outpost New Environmental UpdateLocated in the south, Outpost revitalizes a previously empty transition zone that often left players exposed. The addition of new structures and terrain creates safer rotation options while opening up fresh combat and looting opportunities. It strikes a balance between cover, space, and flow—giving players room to reset, gear up, and re-engage with confidence.Biometric ScannerWe’ve refined the Biometric Scanner experience on Rebirth Island with rebalanced loot probabilities, clearer gameplay cues, and a cleaner, more readable interface. Scanner placement and visuals have been updated, rewards are now simpler and more tailored to the player, and unnecessary randomness has been removed - keeping the core experience intact while making it more consistent and rewarding.Infil Gas ExplosionsDuring the Infil, unexpected explosions may occur, generating deadly gas in select POIs. Be alert, as this can alter your strategy. Infil Gas Explosions are temporary—while some POIs may be inaccessible at match start if engulfed, they will become available once the gas dissipates.Snowstorm GasSnowstorm Gas transforms the familiar Rebirth Island gas into a full winter hazard, exclusive to Winter Rebirth, while preserving all core gameplay rules and readability. Gas masks, decontamination stations, damage, and messaging behave exactly as players expect.Smart DisplaysSmart Displays can now be found in more locations across the map.Smart Displays have been updated with new information, including: When a Black EXE Card has been givenTop Scorer of the matchPlayer with the most EliminationsPOI with the highest player densityCradle Fractures[CLASSIFIED] MODESLoaded Resurgence Limited-Time ModeLoaded Resurgence returns to Rebirth Island with a new twist. This mode is deliberately designed to raise the intensity by featuring accelerated circle collapse, rarer high-tier loot, increased player health, no free loadout drops, and no Gulag second chances. With fewer safety nets and higher consequences for mistakes, every engagement demands confidence and precision. As announced in our previous competitive blog, this mode will be made available during a limited window later in Season 02. We’ll share more details including mode settings and restrictions in the coming weeks as we draw closer to the planned live dates.Map: VerdanskPlayers: 150Squad Size: DuosLive Dates: March 5th - 9thWe made the decision to separate Iron Gauntlet from Ranked Play to give each experience the space it needs to thrive. By keeping Ranked Play more focused and stable, we’re able to support a clearer competitive avenue, while using Iron Gauntlet as a space to explore fresh ideas and push the boundaries of high-skill Battle Royale. When the mode goes live, we’ll be actively listening to your feedback and closely reviewing in-game data across all aspects of the mode including squad size, player count, pacing, weapon balance, time-to-kill, and overall match flow. Ultimately, our goal is to use Iron Gauntlet as a proving ground for ideas that help us navigate creative decisions as we seek out the most rewarding competitive Battle Royale experience possible. We’re excited to see how this first iteration of the mode is received, and to take in the feedback we need to adjust the mode for future seasons.PLAYLISTFor information about upcoming Playlists, please check out the dedicated Warzone Trello Board. RANKED PLAYIntroductionRank up and prove your prowess as Ranked Play: Resurgence returns! This competitive game mode features skilled Trios dropping into Haven’s Hollow to prove their mettle: Compete in high-stakes, fast-paced matches built around a refined ruleset more in line with Black Ops 7’s Multiplayer Ranked Play, as you battle to increase your Skill Rating, earn exclusive rewards, and climb the Skill Divisions on your path toward the top. This chapter we are focusing on a couple of specific targets for Ranked play: A big element of our game ends up relying on matchmaking, and proper placement of players in their intended skill ranges. SR adjustments have been made to try and facilitate this, by making it a little bit easier for high-performing players to move up ranks as long as they are continually performing well. Additionally, slight rebalances to deployment fees have been made to clearly delineate the progression in gameplay difficulty between the pre-crimson, and crimson+ divisions. While the curve is steeper at the end, it has not changed overall, so those in Iridescent will not feel any negative impact from this. Additionally, restrictions and weapons have been updated to the most recent BO7 set, creating a fresh new meta to be discovered; we are excited to see how these changes play out on Haven’s Hollow, and how the new map and its unique layout play with the combat offerings in the hands of our most intrepid players! Ranked Play will launch later into the day following the rollout of the Season 02 update on February 5th, 2026. Keep an eye on social channels for more information.Unlocking Ranked PlayIn order to access this mode, players must place amongst the top squads in at least 20 matches to be eligible to queue up and begin climbing the ranks. In this case, "Top Placement" is defined as finishing among the Top 6 teams in Resurgence or the Top 15 teams in Battle Royale, excluding boot camp and casual modes.Top 250 & LeaderboardThe Top 250 Rank returns, ranking the top players globally on an in-game Leaderboard accessible from the Ranked Play lobby. Players will qualify for the Top 250 and appear on the Leaderboard as they surpass 10,000+ SR.The top 250 players with the highest SR above 10,000 will remain on the board and compete for 1st place over the remainder of the Season. The player who ends the season as the #1 Ranked Player will receive unique rewards: Exclusive, one-of-a-kind Calling Card.Champion Skin, available only to players who finish #1 in a Season.Additional Rank and Seasonal Rewards for achieving milestones throughout the Season.RewardsRanked Play offers a variety of valuable rewards that can be earned exclusively through gameplay. Title: Highguard Review - Not Ready For Primetime Date: Wed, 04 Feb 2026 14:25:00 -0800 Link: https://www.gamespot.com/reviews/highguard-review-not-ready-for-primetime/1900-6418458/?ftag=CAD-01-10abi2f Highguard is a first-of-its-kind "PvP raid shooter" that, unfortunately, showcases why a concept like this has to be perfectly executed for it to work as a standalone game mode. Highguard's developer, Wildlight Entertainment, published this odd MOBA and team-based hero-shooter hybrid. The idea is to bypass the time spent building a base and push towards the final fight at enemy bases, which is the most fun aspect of MOBAs. However, Highguard fails to capture the thrills of either and instead delivers an experience that's more confusing than exciting.Base-raiding isn't a new concept and is built into PvPvE games like 7 Days to Die, Conan Exiles, Rust, and Ark: Survival Evolved. However, their PvP base-raiding element is just a portion of the overall survival crafting gameplay loop and doesn't rely on that one specific objective having to be the most entertaining of all.The fantasy setting for Highguard works really well for depicting battles featuring characters with magical abilities and animals you can ride into battle. Reminiscent of oil paintings, the soft and bright art style is gorgeous and has a specific stylization that makes it stand out from other FPS titles. While it may look good, Highguard, as of now, doesn't play well. In fact, it feels like a beta, and one that's chasing after too many ideas, which in turn makes it difficult to enjoy.Continue Reading at GameSpot

Title: Overwatch Spotlight news: Every big reveal from Blizzard's showcase Date: Wed, 04 Feb 2026 20:54:37 GMT Link: https://www.polygon.com/overwatch-spotlight-news-roundup-2026-season-1/ Overwatch turns 10 years old in 2026, and Blizzard Entertainment is celebrating that major milestone accordingly. The studio is going big this year, with what effectively feels like a major expansion of Overwatch, dropping the "2" from the game's title and adding 10 new heroes.
Title: New Netflix Alan Ritchson action movie looks like Predator meets Metal Gear Date: Wed, 04 Feb 2026 20:46:54 GMT Link: https://www.polygon.com/netflix-war-machine-trailer-action-movie-alan-ritchson/ Netflix’s next big action movie from director Patrick Hughes drops an elite team of soldiers into a Predator-style jungle, where they’re hunted by a Terminator-like mechanical monster with a design that looks just like Metal Gear. Sign me up. The protagonist, our would-be Solid Snake (or Naked, if you're nasty) in this case, is none other than Jack Reacher himself, Alan Ritchson.

Title: Sims 4 Royalty & Legacy review: opulence and scandals, but little else Date: Wed, 04 Feb 2026 20:00:17 GMT Link: https://www.polygon.com/sims-4-royalty-and-legacy-review/ The Sims 4 Royalty & Legacy Expansion Pack is set in a beautiful world filled with opportunities for drama and storytelling, and a generous inclusion of older lore had the Sims 2 fan in me absolutely enraptured. However, the potential shown in these areas made other aspects of the DLC more disappointing. This DLC is definitely meant to appeal to certain styles of players — those that don’t enjoy opulent aesthetics, create generational families, or care about the concept of nobility can likely give this one a pass — but there is certainly fun to be found for some.

You know it and Blizzard knows it, and the developer is giving its players plenty of stylish and silly new ways to outfit their mains with cool costumes and weapon skins in 2026.

Title: More Ways to Play, More Games to Love — GeForce NOW Wraps CES With Linux Support, Fire TV App, Flight Stick Controls Date: Thu, 08 Jan 2026 14:00:00 +0000 Link: https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/geforce-now-thursday-ces-2026-recap/ NVIDIA is wrapping up a big week at the CES trade show with a set of GeForce NOW announcements that are bringing more ways to play and more games to the cloud. From new native apps for Linux and Amazon Fire TV streaming sticks to hands-on throttle-and-stick (HOTAS) support for simulation fans and a new single sign-on option, GeForce NOW is expanding across devices and making it easier to jump straight into gameplay. Topping it off, a new wave of AAA titles — including IO Interactive’s 007 First Light, Capcom’s Resident Evil Requiem and Pearl Abyss’ Crimson Desert — is gearing up to join the GeForce NOW library for high-fidelity, low-latency streaming across the globe. Get ready with the six new games available to stream this week. Leveling Up Where Gamers Play The family of GeForce NOW supported devices is growing. A new native GeForce NOW app is launching in beta for Linux, starting with Ubuntu 24.04 and later. This answers a long-standing request from the gaming community, turning compatible systems into RTX-powered gaming rigs that can stream at up to 5K resolution and 120 frames per second (fps) or 1080p 360 fps. With rendering handled in the cloud, Linux gamers can tap into ray tracing, NVIDIA DLSS and other RTX features without needing a local, high-end GPU. Things are heating up: GeForce NOW on Fire TV streaming sticks. A new native app for Amazon Fire TV streaming sticks transforms the tiny device into a big-screen cloud gaming endpoint, giving members another way to stream their PC libraries straight to the TV with a gamepad in hand. It builds on existing device support, making it easier for gamers to pick up and play from the couch without a console or gaming PC attached. Clearer Skies Ahead  Cleared for takeoff in the cloud. Flight control support has landed in the cloud, letting virtual pilots connect their favorite gear — including industry-leading Thrustmaster and Logitech setups — to custom HOTAS configurations. Whether locking in a full desktop throttle-and-stick rig or fine-tuning a split cockpit arrangement, everything’s ready for takeoff. Paired with the incredible RTX 5080-powered performance available to Ultimate members, plus ultralow-latency streaming and NVIDIA Reflex in supported titles, pilots can now enjoy ultra-precise, hyper-immersive flight experiences straight from the cloud. Soaring over detailed landscapes in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, dogfighting in War Thunder or exploring the stars in Elite Dangerous has never felt smoother. Easier Sign-Ins, Faster Game Time GeForce NOW now supports new games — and more ways to get into them faster. Because remembering passwords is so last season. Battle.net single sign-on recently joined the service, letting members jump straight into supported titles without juggling extra credentials each time. And coming soon early this year, Gaijin.net integration will make takeoff even smoother — one simple sign-on connects more game libraries across devices. Fewer passwords and pop-ups mean more time playing — whether on a desktop, laptop, handheld device or TV. Next Up in the Cloud A new wave of AAA titles is headed to GeForce NOW, bringing spies, survivors and freeswords to the cloud for members to stream across their favorite devices. The games each bring a distinct flavor — from stealthy espionage to nerve-shredding horror and gritty fantasy combat — and they’re all gearing up to join an already-stacked GeForce NOW library when they launch on PC. Earn the number. IO Interactive’s 007 First Light brings a modern James Bond origin story to the cloud when the PC title launches May 27, inviting members to step into the shadows as Bond begins his journey. Experience a balanced mix of stealth and action built around a “breathing” gameplay loop with IOI’s cinematic, set-piece-driven storytelling. Approach encounters through stealth, direct action or creative improvisation, with multiple viable paths to each objective that let players define Bond’s style. Welcome to the Wrenwood Hotel — late checkout is not recommended. Capcom’s Resident Evil Requiem continues the legendary survival-horror saga with a new chapter that doubles down on tense exploration, eerie environments and resource-tight combat. Expect dimly lit corridors, unsettling encounters and that classic feeling of weighing every bullet and healing item before moving forward when playing as Grace, and exhilarating, death-defying action when playing as Leon. Everything matters in the cloud. Gaijin Entertainment’s Active Matter, coming this year, is a realistic military shooter where players join dangerous raids for loot or intense player vs. player battles set in a fractured multiverse. Active matter can be harvested from active matter-transformed creatures or seized from other players. Join this never-ending hunt to improve the chances to find the way out of the time loop. Open world, closed casket. Pearl Abyss’ Crimson Desert is a stunning open-world action adventure set in a war-torn fantasy land, pairing large-scale exploration with cinematic storytelling and hard-hitting, combo-focused combat. One moment is a quiet ride across windswept plains, the next is a chaotic clash against towering foes with mystical power effects lighting up the battlefield. Playing these titles on GeForce NOW means jumping into big-budget experiences with RTX 5080-class performance, high frame rates and advanced graphics features on a wide range of devices, without worrying about downloads, patches or local hardware requirements. Members can pick up the same adventure on a desktop, laptop, handheld device or TV, letting each of these worlds shine wherever and however they choose to play. Hello New Games Welcome back to the plague. The eerie world of Pathologic 3, from Ice-Pick Lodge and tinyBuild, invites players to step once again into a haunting town teetering on the edge of disaster. Time is fleeting, trust is scarce and every conversation feels like a test of loyalty — or survival. With its signature blend of tension, philosophy and dark humor, Pathologic 3 doesn’t just tell a story; it dares players to live through it. In addition, members can look for the following: StarRupture (New release on Steam, Jan. 6) Ancient Farm (New release on Steam, Jan, 87) Pathologic 3 (New release on Steam, Jan. 9) Blood West (Epic Games Store) Paradise Killer (Epic Games Store) Supermarket Simulator (Xbox, available on Game Pass) GeForce RTX 5080-ready game: HITMAN – World of Assassination (Steam, Epic Games Store and Xbox, available on Game Pass) What are you planning to play this weekend? Title: NVIDIA Brings GeForce RTX Gaming to More Devices With New GeForce NOW Apps for Linux PC and Amazon Fire TV Date: Tue, 06 Jan 2026 05:30:51 +0000 Link: https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/geforce-now-ces-2026/ Announced at the CES trade show running this week in Las Vegas, NVIDIA is bringing more devices, more games and more ways to play to its GeForce NOW cloud gaming service. Powered by GeForce RTX 5080-class performance on the NVIDIA Blackwell RTX platform, GeForce NOW Ultimate continues to raise the bar for PC gamers streaming from the cloud. GeForce RTX 5080-powered servers are live globally for Ultimate members, delivering up to 5K resolution 120 frames-per-second (fps) streaming and up to 360 fps at 1080p with NVIDIA Reflex technology support for ultralow-latency, competitive play. Cinematic-Quality Streaming mode enhances image clarity and text sharpness for visually rich single-player adventures on nearly any screen. New this year, GeForce NOW is expanding that performance to more platforms than ever, headlined by a native Linux PC app and a new app for Amazon Fire TV sticks. Flight-simulation fans are also getting flight controls support, and members everywhere gain faster access to more games thanks to new single sign-on integrations and upcoming AAA titles joining the cloud. Here Come the Platforms Linux PCs and Amazon Fire TV sticks are joining the GeForce NOW native app family, unlocking new ways to play in the cloud across desktops and living rooms. These new apps build on GeForce NOW’s existing support for Windows PCs, macOS, Chromebooks, mobile devices, smart TVs, virtual-reality devices and handhelds, all tapping into the same GeForce RTX 5080-class performance wherever members log in. Turn your Linux PC into an RTX gaming rig. A new native GeForce NOW app for Linux PCs, supported with Ubuntu 24.04 and later distributions, answers one of the top requests from the PC gaming community. Linux users can transform their compatible systems into GeForce RTX-powered gaming rigs, streaming supported PC titles from the cloud at up to 5K and 120 fps or 1080p 360 fps. With rendering handled in the cloud, high-end PC gaming is possible on Linux operating systems, breathing new life into older devices. Members can enjoy ray tracing, NVIDIA DLSS 4 and other RTX technologies without needing a local high-performance GPU. The app is designed to bring a seamless, native experience that fits naturally into Linux desktop workflows while giving access to the expansive GeForce NOW library, turning everyday Linux devices into RTX gaming powerhouses. The app is expected to enter a beta release early this year. Game on in the living room. A new native GeForce NOW app for select Amazon Fire TV sticks — starting with the Fire TV Stick 4K Plus (2nd Gen) and Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2nd Gen) — can bring RTX-powered PC gaming to another big screen in the home. Members can stream their compatible PC game libraries directly to Fire TV-connected displays to turn a compact streaming stick into a powerful cloud gaming rig. With support for gamepads and GeForce NOW’s familiar interface, Fire TV users can jump into their favorite supported games without a console or gaming PC attached to the TV. This builds on existing TV support and helps make GeForce NOW the easiest way to bring high-performance PC gaming into the living room. The app is expected to be available in countries where compatible Amazon Fire TV sticks and GeForce NOW are offered and will be launching early this year. Take Flight No fight, just flight in the cloud. GeForce NOW turns more devices into powerful cloud gaming rigs, and CES this year brings another of the community’s most-requested additions. Simulation fans are getting a major upgrade with flight controls support on GeForce NOW. Popular flight sticks and throttle systems from leading brands such as Thrustmaster and Logitech can be used as affixed hands-on throttle-and-stick desktop units or as separately mounted stick-and-throttle setups for custom cockpits. Combined with RTX 5080 performance, ultralow-latency streaming and NVIDIA Reflex in supported titles, flight controls let virtual pilots experience greater precision and deeper immersion in their favorite flight- and space-simulation games — including Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, Elite Dangerous and War Thunder. Members can build out detailed simulation setups at home while streaming the heavy lifting from the cloud when it launches early this year.. Blockbusters in the Cloud The GeForce NOW catalog includes thousands of supported games from top PC stores like Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox and others, with more joining every week. Backed by RTX 5080-class performance, members can stream everything from competitive shooters to expansive role-playing games with high frame rates, advanced graphics features and low latency. New AAA titles such as IO Interactive’s 007 First Light, Capcom’s Resident Evil Requiem, Pearl Abyss’ Crimson Desert, and Gaijin Entertainment’s Active Matter are coming to GeForce NOW when they launch on PC, adding to an already robust lineup of new releases and fan favorites. License to stream. 007 First Light drops players into a modern James Bond origin story filled with stealth, espionage and cinematic action. Resident Evil Requiem continues the iconic survival-horror series with a new protagonist facing terrifying threats in a chilling new setting. Crimson Desert blends open-world exploration, cinematic storytelling and intense combat in a richly detailed fantasy world. Active Matter from Gaijin is a realistic military shooter where players join dangerous raids for loot or intense player vs. player battles set in a fractured multiverse. Members can look forward to seeing these and other upcoming hits arrive on the service, with updates shared regularly on GFN Thursdays. One Login, Many Worlds Just sign in once. The rest is game history. GeForce NOW is also making it faster to jump into gaming with new account and platform integrations. Recent updates introduced Battle.net automatic sign-in, letting members connect their accounts and access supported titles more quickly. That seamless experience is expanding to additional game stores, with Gaijin.net set to soon support automatic sign-in on GeForce NOW early this year. Members will be able to authenticate once and jump into War Thunder and other titles with fewer steps. Learn more about the latest NVIDIA-powered innovations at CES, running through Friday, Jan. 9. Title: How John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando came to life, out March 12 Date: Wed, 04 Feb 2026 17:00:02 +0000 Link: https://blog.playstation.com/2026/02/04/how-john-carpenters-toxic-commando-came-to-life-out-march-12/ Hey, everyone! We’re excited to finally share a gameplay overview for Toxic Commando and announce that the game launches on March 12. We’ve been working hard on this one, and we can’t wait for you to get your hands on it. Play Video For those just catching up, Toxic Commando is our take on the co-op shooter genre, blending intense horde combat with vehicle-based gameplay in open environments. We wanted to give you a deeper look at how this project came together and what makes it tick. From concept to chaos The whole thing started with a pitch from Saber Interactive’s CEO, Matt Karch: World War Z meets Mudrunner. Picture enormous hordes of enemies swarming players who need to use a variety of vehicles to survive. We thought it was a cool concept that played to our strengths at Saber, so we dove into research and prototyping. What emerged was something we’re really proud of—a unique blend of vehicle-based gameplay in open environments combined with action-packed fights against massive enemy hordes. Striking the balance: Wheels vs. boots One question we get a lot is how we balanced the driving and FPS aspects. The answer? We didn’t want to force you into one playstyle or the other. Our game design encourages exploration, and it’s up to you how much you want to lean on vehicles to tackle missions. There are obvious benefits to driving—mobility, protection, mounted weapons—but we never want you to feel locked behind the wheel. Our goal was simple: make vehicles fun and beneficial for players who want to use them, then let you decide how much time you spend driving versus on foot. Both approaches should feel viable and, most importantly, fun to play. Co-op that puts strategy in your hands Most missions in Toxic Commando are nonlinear. You’ll have multiple subobjectives that can be completed in any order, which means you and your squad can choose to stick together or split up to tackle objectives in parallel. The choice is yours. Each playthrough also shakes things up with different vehicle spawns and class/loadout selections, so you’ll need to communicate with your team and plan accordingly to create good synergy. We wanted to encourage real player coordination and strategic thinking, adding a fresh layer to the classic co-op shooter experience. Building a world that feels real (and ridiculous) When it came to crafting the lore and universe of Toxic Commando, we had a few guiding principles. First, we wanted a world that felt recognizable but was set in the near future—just advanced enough to have some cool tech without feeling like a massive leap from our own reality. Second, we wanted our characters to be aware of the tropes they’re living through. They’re in the middle of a zombie apocalypse, dealing with completely over-the-top situations that are both terrifying and—let’s be honest—a bit ridiculous. We lean into that with the dialogue and scenarios, which create some really memorable interactions. But here’s the thing: while we embrace comedic elements and want players to have a blast, we’re not interested in making fun of the games and movies that inspired us. We approach this with earnestness because we genuinely love this stuff. Our love letter to ’80s action horror Speaking of influences, we drew heavily from ’80s films and television. The path to John Carpenter was a natural one: which great director or movies fit into that kind of sphere? John Carpenter’s Escape from New York is probably the most obvious reference, but you’ll also find DNA from Big Trouble in Little China, The Thing, They Live, and Prince of Darkness woven throughout. John Carpenter’s involvement went beyond guidance, feedback, and direction on the story—he also composed Toxic Commando’s music. The team also looked at Dan O’Bannon’s Return of the Living Dead, Lamberto Bava’s Demons, Stuart Gordon’s Re-Animator, and even a bit of The A-Team.  What we love about those properties is the big energy and bombastic tone. It wasn’t about copying specific set pieces or scenes—it was about capturing that feeling. There’s a lack of self-consciousness in a lot of late ’70s to early ’90s action and action-horror cinema that we really appreciated. Those characters aren’t winking at the camera; they’re in over their heads and rolling with it. Our characters know what zombies are, but when faced with a horde, they’re not stopping to break the fourth wall or crack wise about clichĂŠs—they’re fighting for survival. The past fifty years of cinema have given us wonderful examples of ragtag groups of underdog heroes—from Star Wars to Goonies to Guardians of the Galaxy—alongside true masterpieces of horror. We wanted to blend those ideas: what happens when you drop a bickering found family of action-adventure heroes into a horror movie? That’s the core of what we’re exploring with Toxic Commando. John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando is scheduled to be released on March 12. We can’t wait for you to experience this new co-op zombie shooter with a vehicle twist. Thanks for reading, and we’ll see you out there!

Do you remember the first game you ever played on PlayStation? View and download image Download the image close Close Download this image “My very first console game was Stray on PS5! It’s a game where an adorable cat is the main character. The storyline is refreshing, and I loved the overall vibe and puzzle elements. The cat’s movements were so realistic that I felt like I had actually become a cat while playing.” Q. Today you got to try out many DualSense controller colors. Which color is your favorite? “I had no idea there were so many color options! Seeing and holding each one during the shoot, I thought they were all cool.”  View and download image Download the image close Close Download this image “I can’t recall the exact name, but there was a purple shade with a subtle blue tint (Chroma Indigo)—it looked so elegant and stylish. Personally, though, I liked the black one (Midnight Black) the most. Its sleek vibe is totally my style.” Q. What’s the most fun PlayStation game you’ve played so far? “I’d say Astro Bot, which I played during today’s shoot! It’s probably the most fun game I’ve tried so far. The character is adorable, and I thought, Wow, this is the true charm of PlayStation.” View and download image Download the image close Close Download this image “The haptic feedback and adaptive triggers on the DualSense controller blended perfectly with the gameplay, making the tactile experience unforgettable. Title: Yapyap is a jolly bit of gang wizard vandalism with a touch of Dark Messiah Date: Wed, 04 Feb 2026 18:14:31 +0000 Link: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/yapyap-is-a-jolly-bit-of-gang-wizard-vandalism-with-a-touch-of-dark-messiah Yapyap stands apart from other “friendslop” horror extraction games by giving you plenty of firepower to begin with. Airpower, anyway. You and up to four mates are the boggle-eyed, flap-jawed minions of an enormous, moon-masked wizard. You’ve been summoned to wreak havoc on a rival wizard’s procedurally generated tower. Over the course of three nights per round, you must smash as many fixtures as you can to fill up your quota of Chaos – tapestries, crates, paintings, statues, anything that isn’t nailed down. For this purpose, you are handed a range of magical artefacts. Some of the artefacts have to be bought with gold, but there’s a tree in the game’s lobby area that grows wands of wind magic, pluckable for free. Wind magic is the Ringo Starr of the four elements, IMO, but the default wands are fun, especially given that you have unlimited mana. There’s a basic ‘Force Push’ style wind spell, used to blow the helmets off zombie knights, a levitation spell to enhance your parkour, and a summonable tornado that will happily engulf the caster. Title: With its new season update trailer, Apex Legends would like you to know it has invented windows Date: Wed, 04 Feb 2026 14:02:50 +0000 Link: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/with-its-new-season-update-trailer-apex-legends-would-like-you-to-know-it-has-invented-windows Apex Legends season 28 launches on February 10th, and appears to add competitive glazing to the now 7-year-old battle royale. The game's "newest tactical mechanic", so says the announcement post, is Hardlight Mesh, a glowy, bullet-resistant window that teams can either throw up to defend a hidey hole or, with enough lead, rockets, and/or angry kicks, break down to form a new ingress point. Holes in walls? That’s old hat. ApeLegs is disrupting holes in walls. There’ll probably be a TechCrunch article on it. Read more
Title: Nioh 3 review - A superb blend of soulslike splendour Date: Wed, 04 Feb 2026 14:00:00 +0000 Link: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/nioh-3-review-a-superb-blend-of-soulslike-splendour My experience with the third Nioh reminded me of many other games — the open world of Elden Ring, the samurai/ninja gameplay of Assassin's Creed Shadows, and the dopamine-generating loot drops of Diablo. I make these comparisons not to disparage Nioh 3, but rather to praise its adroitness. This is a great game that pilfers elements from many disparate titles with the stealthy fluidity of a shinobi, blending them into an attractive whole that resembles a shiny samurai cuirass. Read more
