Title: Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Players Are Absolutely Destroying Edward Kenway’s Back
Date: Thu, 13 Aug 2026 13:30:25 +0000
Link: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/assassins-creed-black-flag-resynced-players-are-absolutely-destroying-edward-kenways-back/
Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced has been a welcome hit for Ubisoft, and several weeks after the game launched for PC and console, new stats about it have been revealed. Mind you, these stats lean toward more esoteric data points, so if you've been curious about which Caribbean couture has been the most popular or just how shattered Edward Kenway's back must be after doing a dangerous amount of crouching, then these infographics are for you.
Kicking things off with a look at Kenway's threads. Ubisoft revealed that the subdued greys of the Privateer outfit is the most popular with players so far. Kenway's ship, the Jackdaw, has also traveled over 40 million kilometers thanks to the collective efforts of players, a distance that equates to 1,000 trips around the world at full sail. When it comes to weapons, Le Bourgeys Blades are the favorite of many a swashbuckler, and players have a 47% win rate against Legendary-class ships so far.
Can you pet the exotic animals in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced? You absolutely can, and the game has logged 28.29 million animals being petted--with cats naturally being at the top of the list. Finally, players have spent over 8 million hours crouched in the game--great for stealth, terrible for your lower back. Crouching effectively makes up 10% of the total playtime for the average player. While it's not listed in the original post, Ubisoft recently celebrated an unusual milestone for the game: the popularity of foot fetish pics taken using the game's photo mode.

While Ubisoft hasn't posted any additional sales numbers recently, the Black Flag remake reached an impressive figure of 3 million units sold in its first week. The game also reached 99,451 concurrent players on Steam on launch day, setting a record for an Assassin’s Creed game on Steam.
Title: Twitch Is Now Using Channels To Train Generative AI, And The Company Knows It’s Unpopular
Date: Thu, 13 Aug 2026 13:26:02 +0000
Link: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/twitch-is-now-using-channels-to-train-generative-ai-and-the-company-knows-its-unpopular/
The Amazon-owned streaming site Twitch is now using channels to train generative AI systems, and the company's top product boss knows it's a controversial piece of news that most people won't like.
By default, Twitch channels are now used to train generative AI models across Amazon, and users need to opt-out. Opting-out isn't enough, though, as any chats on a channel that hasn't opted out will still be used for training.
During a livestream, Twitch chief product officer Mike Minton said that if the model training was on an opt-in basis, no one would do it.
"We know many of you will opt out. Why is it not opt-in? 'Let me opt-in versus making me opt-out.' Well, there is an honest answer, and I think most of you can appreciate this. If it was opt-in, nobody would opt-in. That's honestly the answer. So it's going to be on by default," he said. "Almost every content service in the world is on by default. I think the thing that we are doing here that is unique and different is respecting your wishes to opt-out of model training. I know this is not a fan-favorite. I know it's very upsetting to the community. But this is where we are."
On the Twitch website, the company said the new model-training feature uses channel content to train generative AI content models, including streams, VODs, clips, stream chats, and pictures and text broadcast to the channel. Opting-out stops Twitch from doing this on your channel, but as mentioned above, chatting on someone else's stream will still leverage the model-training if that person has not opted out.
Additionally, anyone who opts-out to this new feature will still be part of model-training, as Twitch uses AI and machine learning for its AutoMod community-safety service and for AI-supported features like automatically generated captions. It is not possible to opt-out of these offerings, though Twitch said it does not retain user data for other types of model training.
You can't opt-out of all of Twitch's AI uses because some AI-supported features are not individual settings, but platform offerings, Twitch said.
"Some of it runs the service itself, the same way our servers and our code do. Some of it keeps the service secure. And some of it, like AutoMod, protects the whole community. Turning those off for one person would weaken safety and security for everyone else on the platform, so they are not individual settings," Twitch explained.
Twitch's own head of community, GameSpot alum Mary Kish, said she is opting-out of the new AI-training features in part because some of her community members would not join her streams if she opted-in.
Twitch's announcement drew a lot of responses. Popular streamer PaladinAmber joked that she is going to "start doing makeup that distorts my face and speak in really cryptic terms" and "f**k with the stream" so much that whatever the AI learns will be so bad it needs to be thrown out.
People are raising other issues, like what happens if a creator streams your game and has opted-in. Or what happens for union-backed voice actors who lobbied for protections against AI usage.
The push for further AI training on Twitch is not a big surprise, as its parent company, Amazon, is heavily invested in various pillars of AI. In May this year, the company said it was investing more than $200 billion into its AI buildout in 2026 alone. Amazon is also partnered with AI juggernaut Anthropic.
Title: Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave Feels Like Four Games’ Worth Of Fire Emblem – Preview

With four campaigns that each have multiple systems of their own, Fortune's Weave may be the most ambitious Fire Emblem to date.
Title: Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave Feels Like Four Games’ Worth Of Fire Emblem
Date: Thu, 13 Aug 2026 13:00:00 +0000
Link: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/fire-emblem-fortunes-weave-feels-like-four-games-worth-of-fire-emblem/
Fire Emblem has always been known for its mechanical density and complexity, but Fortune's Weave applies a force multiplier. With an array of four differentiated but intertwining story campaigns, it feels complex in a way that could prove overwhelming. Having played the first several chapters of two of the campaigns, each had its own wrinkles and elements that could have supported their own standalone campaigns--all composing a sprawling narrative that appears to reward exploring it in full to see every scene and interaction.
Fortune's Weave looks to be a conscious effort to restore some of the magic of Three Houses, following the more divisive Fire Emblem Engage. That means a tale that is more grand and sweeping across multiple factions, including a time-jump element that Nintendo revealed during its recent Direct presentation. At its core, though, this is a story that focuses on four main protagonists, the so-called Flame Lords, with the neat hook that they can be explored in any order, and you can jump between them with mostly unfettered freedom.
For the purposes of this preview I started with just two of the four main characters: the dancer Leda and the queen Theodora. And even in the early stages, it was easy to see how this four-quadrant approach holds incredible promise for storytelling, with just a few potential pitfalls.
For one, the stories feel well differentiated, even when covering similar sword-and-sandals epic subject matter. My first choice, Leda, begins by witnessing her father's coldblooded execution in the street, thus beginning a revenge quest that completely consumes her. She is obsessed to a fault and often seems to have trouble even relating to people who aren't similarly single-minded and driven. That creates an interpersonal dynamic with her attendants and friends, who understand that this obsession isn't healthy for her, but that on some level she needs to see it through to get closure.
Theodora likewise has a tragic past involving the death of her father, but the conditions and her reaction to it are radically different. As the heir to a throne, she's ambushed by her wicked brother, and his loyalists cut off her dominant arm in the process. It's only later, after finding a magical prosthesis--more on that in a bit--that she learns her brother's betrayal included killing her father as well, but it's offscreen and treated as part of his larger regicide plot. She isn't obsessed with vengeance at all. Instead, her story dispatches the wayward brother quickly and then transitions into her goal of proving herself worthy of the crown.
Leda, one of the four Flame Lords in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave
Both of them, and ultimately all four of the main protagonists, are drawn toward the Heroic Games, and that's where you start to see factionalism and clashing interests start to arise. They all have their own reasons to be there--Leda gets a lead that her father's killer is competing in the games and sees an opportunity, while Theodora wishes to prove herself against a possible succession battle. Each team competing in the Heroic Games has its own little cadre of warriors with their own relationships to each other. You can even see the other protagonists and their own bands of warriors milling around the grounds as you explore the capital city of Dagsion.
I was able to give gifts to start winning over recruits, which act as small, contained pools of characters to befriend and add to your growing forces. I didn't get far enough to try poaching warriors from the other Flame Lords, so I don't know if that would work or how it would impact their own paths. But the recruitment system looks flexible enough that it could support such a thing.
As you may expect, Leda and Theodora play very different roles in combat as well. Theodora is a fierce queen who uses a spear--in fact, her missing arm was a major issue for using her weapon of choice before she received her magical substitute. Leda is more of a back-line combatant, most proficient in bows. They were both rounded out by a supporting cast to make up for their weaknesses, like Leda's loyal attendant, Buccar; the flirtatious Sirocco; or Theodora's stalwart quartermaster, Bonaventure. The cast is very likable right from the start.
The warriors make camp in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave
They also both have their own unique abilities not shared by any other regular characters, and this is where Fortune's Weave starts to show the real depths of its complexity. Leda is a dancer, while Theodora is a warrior queen, so there's a real contrast between their abilities both on and off the battlefield.
First are their unique Blaze Arts. As a dancer, Leda can cast Spellsongs, providing buffs to her allies in combat, while Theodora has an Earthen Throw attack that can reach across the battlefield in a straight line. Both have powerful effects at the expense of some life. Theodora can also assign Battalions to strengthen her units.
Outside of combat, Leda can learn new Blaze Arts by accepting performance requests at local taverns, and she can travel around the map picking up gigs to perform at local taverns in smaller towns. Sometimes giving a performance will prompt a barfly to give her a tip about a secret spot nearby where she can acquire special materials. Theodora's abilities, meanwhile, focus on her role as a leader of her people, letting her deploy battalions to search for supplies and send supplies back home to help her people.
The two are also linked, indirectly, by the presence of cursed objects. Leda has an instrument that is said to be teeming with dark energy, while Theodora's arm itself--taken from the resting place of a legendary hero of her people--is said to be cursed. In both cases these work thematically to emphasize their stories, symbolizing Leda's willingness to use any dangerous tool at her disposal to enact her vengeance, and showing Theodora's need to prove herself through physical strength. But early as I am, I suspect there will be more to both of these, and other similarly cursed objects across the other two protagonist stories.
A meeting at the Heroic Games in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave
Once you reach Dagsion and begin the Heroic Games, the structure of the game reveals itself. You're scheduled to take part in qualifier rounds on particular days, which gives you a certain amount of time to explore the town and surrounding cities taking part in sidequests, skirmishes, and to give gifts to potential recruits, between major story events.
In the thick of combat, this is through and through recognizable as a Fire Emblem game, with all of the density of gameplay the strategy RPG series name has come to suggest. You'll be carefully positioning units, drawing enemies in to be flanked, and experimenting with different combinations of job classes as you buy licenses to unlock more advanced units. The unique powers of each protagonist gives them their own sense of combat identity and makes them feel special.
Aside from the traditional strategy battles, there are also sporadic dungeon-crawling segments with more traditional RPG combat, which appear randomly as you explore the map, and as occasional story events. I found these to be fairly simplistic for now, but they were an okay diversion and another way to gather resources aside from simply using the search function while exploring the map. And as the game continues those may blossom into a more engaging diversion, though if they remain too simple I could foresee them becoming an annoyance, or just skipping them altogether.
Training units in the Auto-Advance menu in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave
It altogether feels a little overwhelming. But that feeling actually worked to soften one of the rougher edges of this game's structure for me. Since you have a choice of four stories that all run in parallel, and you can hop between them freely, you're essentially doing multiple different versions of early-game missions. That could risk making the game feel fairly flat at the beginning, when the challenge level is still at its most gentle. I haven't done this, but in theory you could play Leda's path to completion and then start all over with Theodora's, which would probably feel like a hard reset. But instead I played the first few chapters of each back to back, and I plan to keep swapping between them. That means that, at first, I was staying at a steady, very easy challenge. It also had the odd side-effect of repeating a handful of optional introductory quests from a quest board, like finding the item and weapon shop vendors in town.
But that gentle introduction with some elements repeated actually worked in favor of Fortune's Weave in an unexpected way. Since the world is so dense and complex and with so much to do, and so many factions with their own agendas, the presence of some repetition helped reinforce the aspects that are the same between the campaigns, and gave me a better sense of what was different between them as well. I'll have to see how my patience holds out for doing it twice more, if I choose to play all four at all, but at least at first, this was a welcome way to learn the ropes.
The grand city of Dagsion in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave
Another way that Fortune's Weave seems likely to soften the edges of its multiple campaigns is through the use of Boons of Salvation. By completing Milestones, you unlock karma shards that can be spent on Boons that apply universally across all four paths. Those include things like an XP Boost, increased damage output with particular weapon types, or discounted items. So in theory you could use your progress in some chapters to create a glide path for the next one. That wouldn't skip over the more simplistic early-game elements but it would likely make them quicker to breeze through and get to the more substantial tactical combat.
Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave feels absolutely massive. It's dense in a way that few other RPGs are, and the story being structured around four separate heroes with their own stories and abilities sets makes it even more complex still. The four parallel stories also feel reminiscent of the various schools in Three Houses. That game is widely seen as the recent high-water mark of the series, and while Fortune's Weave doesn't seem to have quite the same Persona-like social hooks, the array of specialized abilities make the four main characters feel distinct, both in and out of combat. It's so vast and sprawling that it will take many more hours to reach a final evaluation, but what I've played so far is a very promising start that could put it among the best the series has to offer.
Title: Genshin Impact’s New Update Appears To Mock The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool Fiasco
Date: Thu, 13 Aug 2026 12:23:45 +0000
Link: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/genshin-impact-new-update-appears-to-mock-the-lincoln-memorial-reflecting-pool-fiasco/
Video games don't typically reference current affairs, but a new Genshin Impact update seems to be poking fun at the recent Washington Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool debacle. Players have discovered a document in the game, penned by "Grand Duke Diomid Turzov," that goes into detail--and with strange grammatical choices--about a fountain that was "ruined" by shoddy workmanship and vandals. As Turzov explained, he's looking for a few good guards to help ensure that the renovation project continues without any additional complications.
"I built a fountain. It is enormous. Without question, it is the most beautiful fountain in all of Snezhnaya," the note reads (via ResetEra). "Maybe even the most beautiful in all of Teyvat. Better than the Fountain of Lucine. Much better. Everyone's talking about it. Then some horrible Tidalga got into the fountain. From Fontaine! They made the water look ugly. Total disaster. Very sad. But I fixed it. I did what no one else was brave enough to do! I drained the fountain and painted the bottom with beautiful, bright paint. After that, it looked incredible. So incredible! Then the idiots on the Snezhnograd Veche ruined everything. There is something very wrong with their brains, by the way. They knew the paint would feed the Tidalga, but did they tell me? No. Of course not."
The rest of the note rambles on about "thugs" and "paint-scraping lunatics" sabotaging the fountain and how Turzov plans to hire the "biggest, toughest, strongest warriors" to round up these vandals.
It's not too hard to see how Genshin Impact is making fun of the high-profile $14.7 million renovation project for the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, which was drained so that the long pool could be coated with a new color inspired by the blue of the US flag. Days after the pool was refilled, the water turned a murky, bright neon green thanks to a massive algae bloom. As scientists discovered, the dark blue paint absorbed far more solar radiation than the original, lighter color did, causing the water to heat up quickly and allowing algae to form.
Large patches of the new sealant began peeling and flaking off, while US President Donald Trump claimed that vandals were to blame. He alleged that people had cut a massive slit down the middle of the pool bottom, and while several people were arrested for alleged vandalism and trespassing, federal prosecutors eventually dropped the criminal charges against all individuals accused in the incident. Federal investigators and independent coating experts later concluded that contractor errors, poor design choices, and reactive chemical treatments were the main reasons behind the Reflecting Pool failure.

Title: Duskfade Review: Kingdom Hearts New Replacement Is the Best Mario Game of the Year
Date: Thu, 13 Aug 2026 13:00:12 GMT
Link: https://www.polygon.com/duskfade-review/
Mechanically, Duskfade is the lovechild of Kingdom Hearts and Super Mario Odyssey. Narratively, it's as if Frozen crossed paths with Inside Out. But in terms of structure? It's Jak & Daxter meets Super Mario Sunshine. This is a game with plenty of clear inspirations, and as a result, it doesn't reinvent the platforming wheel, but it is still a delightful 20-hour adventure that will take you through some stunning locales, introduce you to charming characters, and strikes the right balance with its difficulty.
Title: Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave Preview: Potentially Nintendo's Best Strategy Game Yet
Date: Thu, 13 Aug 2026 13:00:12 GMT
Link: https://www.polygon.com/fire-emblem-fortunes-weave-preview/
Ten hours means I've cleared the prologue and five chapters in one of the four story paths, which is approximately one round of the Heroic Games out of I-still-don't-know-how-many. It's a massive game, or it gives every appearance of being one at this point, but thankfully it's not a slow one. Intelligent Systems frontloaded Fortune's Weave with new changes to the combat system and some story developments that, even with the recent Nintendo Direct's protagonist reveal, have been very well-guarded. You learn the biggest changes in the prologue and Fortune's Weave expects you to put them into practice immediately, rather than forcing you through dozens of tutorial-style missions designed to make sure you know how a sword works and how to move characters. Fortune's Weave isn't dissing newcomers, though. It still has difficulty options and a rewind system, and casual mode keeps characters from dying permanently. Intelligent Systems was, it seems, just confident enough to get to the point quickly and trust its audience will keep up.

Link: https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/geforce-now-thursday-back-to-school-2026/
Back to school means balancing assignments, deadlines and downtime. GeForce NOW makes it easy to have it all.
With cloud gaming, everyday laptops used for class can also become GeForce RTX-powered gaming setups.
When it’s time to switch from studying to gaming, members can jump into Halo: Campaign Evolved, as GeForce NOW is bringing one of the gaming world’s most celebrated titles to nearly any device through the cloud, alongside eight total games joining the GeForce NOW library this week.
From A+ to AAA Gaming
This back-to-school season, the easiest upgrade isn’t replacing laptops in backpacks. It’s unlocking even more from these same laptops, from creating to gaming.
With a GeForce NOW membership, Chromebooks, Macs and Surface devices can become GeForce RTX-powered gaming PCs in the cloud. The GeForce NOW library features thousands of supported PC games, letting members stream titles they already own from digital stores like Steam, Xbox PC Game Pass and Epic Games Store in just a few clicks.
The cloud keeps games up to date and ready to play, making it easy to jump into a match between classes, after homework or whenever there’s free time. Time spent waiting on downloads, patches and installs becomes time spent in game instead.
The Ultimate membership enables best-in-class experiences by delivering 5080-class performance in the cloud with NVIDIA DLSS, ray tracing and NVIDIA Reflex technologies for responsive, visually rich gameplay — all on the hardware gamers already own.
A creator known as “Menguiny” recently put this to the test after picking up a MacBook Neo. GeForce NOW turned the laptop — usually the creator’s go-to for editing videos and everyday work — into a top-notch gaming machine, too.
Another creator, “TechWithSeong” highlighted that same versatility GeForce NOW offers. Rather than juggling separate devices for work and gaming, he used GeForce NOW Ultimate to stream supported PC games across the devices he already owns — from a MacBook used for editing to gaming on the go with handheld devices.
Gamers can start with a day pass and experience all the premium benefits without a monthly commitment. Plus, the cost of a day pass can be applied toward a first membership purchase — it’s like earning a little extra credit along the way.
Everyone, at Their Stations
Needlers never looked so sharp.
Experience the Master Chief’s iconic journey on GeForce NOW in Halo: Campaign Evolved — a modernized remake of Halo: Combat Evolved’s campaign — rebuilt with high-definition visuals, updated cinematics and refined gameplay. Whether discovering Halo for the first time or returning after 25 years to finish the fight, it’s as the Master Chief says: “We’re just getting started.”
Crash-land on the mysterious ringworld alongside Cortana and uncover great secrets while battling overwhelming Covenant forces. Fight through the rebuilt campaign, then continue the adventure with three brand-new missions featuring the Master Chief and Sergeant Johnson. Expanded weapons, iconic vehicles, hijackable Wraith tanks and optional Skull modifiers offer even more ways to play.
Suit up across PCs, Macs, Chromebooks, handhelds, mobile devices, TVs and more with GeForce NOW Ultimate, powered by GeForce RTX 5080-class performance in the cloud. Experience Halo with NVIDIA DLSS, ray tracing and NVIDIA Reflex technologies delivering higher frame rates and ultralow latency that keep every firefight feeling responsive and worthy of a Spartan.
From solo gaming to online co-op modes, GeForce NOW cloud saves let members log in and pick up exactly where they left off across supported devices — no lengthy downloads, extra storage space or expensive hardware upgrades required. The only thing left to carry is the mission.

Lock in and load up the cloud. GFN Thursday brings fresh updates and new adventures, all ready to play without waiting for downloads.
Set sail in Path of Exile: Curse of the Allflame and charge in Battlefield 6 Season 4 both launching major content for members this week.
Then revisit Capcom legends like Breath of Fire IV, Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2, jump into Halo: Campaign Evolved Advanced Access and discover nine titles arriving on GeForce NOW.
The Curse Calls
Prepare to brave the unforgiving waters of Wraeclast. Path of Exile: Curse of the Allflame launches Friday, July 24, sending Exiles into the perilous Frozen Seas.
Guided by formidable corsair captain Valerie and her cursed navigator Vesper, gamers must piece together scattered treasure charts, board the legendary vessel — the Sovereign — and chart a course into the abyss. Descend into the depths using Allflame Lanterns to uncover valuable relics while surviving the dangers lurking beneath the waves.
The update introduces sweeping changes, including a complete rework of sockets and links. The Scion also gains the all-new Luminary Ascendancy, the Mercenaries of Trarthus return alongside mysterious Atlas Anomalies, and the preexisting Abyss, Legion and Talisman mechanics receive revitalized gameplay and exclusive rewards.
GeForce NOW members can dive in the moment it launches across their devices, no downloads needed. Learn more about the latest additions on the Path of Exile website.
Rise Through the Ranks
The next operation begins.
Battlefield 6 takes the fight further with Season 4, bringing new battlegrounds, expanded progression and new ways to play.
Take to the land, air and sea with the massive Tsuru Reef and the return of the fan-favorite Wake Island, coming in phase two. Both feature aircraft carriers with operational flight decks, new naval vehicles and a dynamic wave system that helps move every match. The update also introduces Custom Lobbies and Spectator Mode, delivering more ways to play.
From large-scale multiplayer battles to intense vehicle combat, GeForce NOW lets members deploy across nearly any device. Ultimate members can stream with GeForce RTX 5080-powered performance across PCs, Macs, handhelds, mobile devices, TVs and more.
Whether returning to the frontlines or enlisting for the first time, members can leap into the latest Battlefield update the moment it arrives on GeForce NOW — without waiting for patches.
Dragons and Dinosaurs — on Any Device
Classic adventures, now in the cloud.
Three iconic Capcom adventures arrive on GeForce NOW this week, ready for longtime fans to revisit and new players to discover.
Journey through the rich fantasy world of Breath of Fire IV, a role-playing game following the intertwining stories of Ryu and Fou-Lu. Master an array of skills and magic to unlock strategic victories in battle and go head to head with unique enemies using powerful Dragon Transformations.
Raw instinct takes over in Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2, the survival-horror series that combines pulse-pounding action, resource management and thrilling dinosaur encounters. Pursued by a relentless prehistoric terror, players fight to survive from the facility to the world of the Cretaceous Period.
Whether reliving unforgettable moments or discovering these legendary titles for the first time, gamers on GeForce NOW can experience gaming history on supported devices like Chromebooks, Fire TV and Steam Deck — no legacy hardware required.
Spartans — Start Early
Spartans don’t have to wait. Players who prepurchase the Premium Edition of Halo: Campaign Evolved can suit up for Advanced Access before the game’s global launch on Tuesday, July 28.
Start the weekend with all the new games arriving on GeForce NOW:
ZeroSpace (New release on Steam, available July 20)

Title: GeForce NOW Turns Up the Heat With New GeForce RTX 5080-Powered Toronto Server
Date: Thu, 09 Jul 2026 13:00:55 +0000
Link: https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/geforce-now-thursday-toronto-expansion/
This GFN Thursday brings more games, more power and more ways to play on GeForce NOW.
The cloud gaming service is expanding with a new GeForce RTX 5080-powered server in Toronto, bringing dedicated high performance in the cloud closer to members across the region.
NTE: Neverness to Everness also gets an update in the cloud, making it even easier to jump into the latest content from the supernatural adventure without a single download or more storage space needed. It leads the way for GeForce NOW bringing native touch control to the game, coming soon.
There’s even more to explore with three new games joining the GeForce NOW library this week.
Take It to the Next Level in Toronto
The forecast is looking cloudy in Canada.
A new GeForce RTX 5080-powered GeForce NOW server is coming to Toronto, expanding service in the region and bringing dedicated cloud gaming performance closer to local members. The new server will roll out within days, giving more players access to top-tier cloud gaming across Canada.
Ultimate members can stream across PCs, Macs, handhelds, mobile devices, TVs and more with GeForce RTX 5080-class power in the cloud. Enjoy up to 4K resolution and beyond on supported ultrawide displays, up to 120 frames per second, plus NVIDIA DLSS, ray tracing and NVIDIA Reflex technologies.
Bring on the ‘999 Nights’
Reality bends — on any device.
Step into the surreal world of NTE: Neverness to Everness with the NTE Version 1.2 “999 Nights” update.
This version introduces a massive gameplay evolution, plunging players into an immersive, tabletop-inspired fantasy role-playing game on the Warren Continent — a new permanent game mode featuring its own dedicated progression system.
This narrative and mechanical expansion is elevated by the debut of two powerful characters, Shinku and Iroi, alongside an unprecedented fashion upgrade featuring a sweeping collection of 19 new character outfits.
To top it off, exploration gets a high-octane upgrade with Draco, a revolutionary new motorcycle vehicle, making this version an absolute playground for combat strategy, stylish customization and high-speed urban traversal.
Plus, GeForce NOW will soon be rolling out native touch controls to NTE: Neverness to Everness, which will make it even easier to explore the city’s mysteries from supported mobile devices.
Look for the game in the GeForce NOW app to seamlessly jump between devices and continue the adventure — no downloads, storage space or expensive additional hardware required.
Embark on Expanded Adventures
The journey continues in Granblue Fantasy: Relink with the Endless Ragnarok expansion. Known for its dynamic combat, diverse roster of Skyfarers and thrilling online co-op, Relink returns with fresh story content as mysterious beings known as the Ragnalia threaten the Zegagrande Skydom. Strange gateways, powerful new foes — including the mighty Beelzebub — and fresh challenges await across the skies.
The expansion also introduces additional ways to play, including summon abilities that add another layer of combat strategy, co-op quest tiers and a solo mode filled with unpredictable encounters. Master traits offer more opportunities to customize favorite characters, giving both longtime Skyfarers and newcomers plenty of reasons to take flight.
Jump into the latest action with the following games to play this week:
Esports Manager 2026 (New release on Steam, available July 6)
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced (New release on Steam and Ubisoft Connect, available July 9)
Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok Demo (Steam)
As GeForce NOW continues to expand, so does the community discovering cloud gaming.
One new Ultimate member summed up their first impressions:
“Finally caved and got GFN Ultimate… and wow.”
Another longtime PC gamer shared how GeForce NOW completely changed their perspective after years of skepticism, calling it “a good alternative” for casual players and encouraging others to “try the one month and upgrade to the yearly before the sale ends.”

Title: Kinetic Publishing Showcase recap: 5 new indie games coming to PS5
Date: Wed, 12 Aug 2026 19:30:04 +0000
Link: https://blog.playstation.com/2026/08/12/kinetic-publishing-showcase-recap-5-new-indie-games-coming-to-ps5/
You may have heard of Kinetic Games through our horror title, Phasmophobia. It’s sold over 27 million copies, and thanks to this success, in January of this year we established our very own publishing label, Kinetic Publishing. Our aim at Kinetic Publishing is to support and empower indie devs to create incredible games, giving them the level of support that our founder, Daniel Knight, would have benefitted from when he was first creating Phasmophobia.
Today we debuted our Kinetic Publishing showcase, where we got to reveal the first five games we’ll be publishing throughout 2027 and 2028. These dev teams all have unique, inspiring stories and just as equally exciting games. From a true sci-fi horror to a witch-tech delivery adventure, and everything in between, we’ve curated a selection of games we hope players are going to love, and of course, they will all be available on PlayStation 5.
Contact Protocol
Can you make the right decisions under pressure? That’s the question the team behind Contact Protocol wants the answer to. In this sci-fi starship job simulator, you are tasked with the scourge that is corporate admin as you assess the intentions of incoming ships on the Pale Horse’s voyage to Jupiter’s largest moon. Compare incoming information against company records and do your best to determine whether ships are friend or foe. But make the wrong decision and all it takes is one torpedo to guarantee your safety – while sending the other crew to their death in the vacuum of space.

In Contact Protocol, players’ cognitive load is gradually ramped up while being offered near-impossible decisions, and we found the combination of this stressful gameplay combined with allocated downtime and the incredible yet somewhat unsettling art style, to be something really special. It’s high stakes, it’s intense, but it’ll leave you coming back for more, as players will soon find out when Contact Protocol launches on PlayStation 5 in Spring 2027.
Crescent County
Crescent County is a game that sings with sunset-soaked, dreamy graphics from the mind of creative director and illustrator, Anna Hollinrake. Based on her own lived experience moving to the Isle of Wight, players will discover what it means to find home on this magical crescent isle. From crunchy, flow-state motorbroom driving, to messy, gossip-fuelled local drama and flirty relationships, Crescent County aims to offer the experience of Kiki’s Delivery Service meets the bikes of Akira set on a rural, witch-tech island.

We couldn’t deny how much we loved the gorgeous, painterly world of Crescent County, a down-to-earth passion project that oozes good vibes. Celebrating queerness, found-family and community in a way we couldn’t ignore, get ready to lose yourself in the beauty of Crescent County when it comes to PlayStation 5 in Summer 2027.
Shellbound
Shellbound has taken the best bits of a metroidvania and set them on a ‘big ass snail’. Giving real meaning to the phrase ‘living world’, players take on the role of a parasite exploring an environment where organs are labyrinths and the snail’s very biology can reshape the paths available to them. The combination of combat and platforming provides the much-loved metroidvania challenge, proving simple to learn but satisfyingly difficult to master.

But Shellbound is pushing the limits of the genre, giving players parasitic powers that allow them to take control of enemies and NPCs and each creature offering unique movement, combat, and traversal skills. Harnessing these abilities is the key to reaching hidden areas, unlocking new routes, and defeating powerful bosses – which players will learn when Shellbound launches on PlayStation 5 in Summer 2028.
Aether Wizard Life

Precognition
We are beyond excited to announce that we will be partnering with Half Mermaid Productions on their newest game, Precognition. Originally teased under the name ‘Project C’, Precognition is a sci-fi horror being created by Immortality and Her Story creator Sam Barlow in collaboration with acclaimed horror director Brandon Cronenberg. At Kinetic, we’ve played (and gotten hooked on) Sam’s previous FMV games like Immortality and Her Story, and jumped at the chance to work with such a talented team.
Of course, Kinetic is best known for its own horror title, so we’re very happy to have an equally thrilling game in our publishing lineup. And Precognition aims to go one step further than Sam’s previous games, giving players a real sense of agency and freedom in choosing where the story goes. Be sure to interrogate the smallest of details, and get ready to face the consequences that await when you meddle with the flow of time, when Precognition launches on PlayStation 5 in Spring 2028.

Title: Necrons are "extremely arrogant aliens that feel like they cannot die," so their weakness in Dawn of War 4 is an obvious one: greed
Date: Thu, 13 Aug 2026 13:02:02 +0000
Link: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/necrons-are-extremely-arrogant-aliens-that-feel-like-they-cannot-die-so-their-weakness-in-dawn-of-war-4-is-an-obvious-one-greed
Dawn of War 4's Necrons are the hard nuts of Warhammer 40,000. Each one of their soldiers is a >soul trapped in a living metal body, practically immortal thanks to the faction's reanimation technology. Like a clothes moth infestation, once they've made their home on a planet, they're virtually impossible to get rid of. They lend themselves to wars of attrition, constantly expanding their borders while absorbing enemy attacks.
"Players love this type of playstyle," Dawn of War 4's senior game designer Elliott Verbiest tells me, "but it's something that isn't necessarily conducive to interesting multiplayer gameplay. It's kind of the same deal as rock, paper scissors where both players are just throwing rock over and over and over again."
To counter this, developers King Art Games have introduced a chink in the Necron's armour, and it's a very human impulse: greed.

Title: Do a literal monster mash in Dance of Theseus, a strangely undisgusting blend of plastic surgery and Balatro-style fashion battles
Date: Thu, 13 Aug 2026 12:03:08 +0000
Link: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/do-a-literal-monster-mash-in-dance-of-theseus-a-strangely-undisgusting-blend-of-plastic-surgery-and-balatro-style-fashion-battles
It is time to confront the terrible truth that I once took part in a school fashion show. I ran in two categories, Ballroom and Street, a serious test of range for a kid who had only just mastered the daredevil technique of wearing a shirt without a tie. In the Ballroom bracket, I was asked to do a waltz in an Indian wedding gown provided by a local sponsor who, I can only assume, immediately went out of business. In Street, I had to wear a Gap hoodtop and shoot a fire-eater (one of the Cool Teachers) with a Super Soaker, while some other lost soul moonwalked down the runway in a golden suit.
In retrospect, I am filing all this under the secret umbrella category of God's Greatest Mistake. There is exactly no photographic evidence, and I will thank you not to search for any on Facebook. It's so much less upsetting being a fashion model in Dance of Theseus, which might sound weird given that in Dance of Theseus, you don't just swap outfits – you graft on new heads, arms and legs, either bought from sniffy griffon dressmakers or moulded together out of seashells, horned skulls, and scraps of shimmering hide. Created by Shanghai-based Citreat Studio, it's a cheerful, colourful and somehow unrevolting life sim RPG with a kind of Balatro-esque Frankensteinmaxxing element. I've been playing the demo, and it's both entertaining and a source of endless inspiration. Argh, if only I'd had access to this, when I was 16!!!

Title: "We're not really sure what Big Walk's future looks like," say the waddling co-op puzzler's devs, though it probably doesn’t involve DLC
Date: Thu, 13 Aug 2026 11:31:00 +0000

I’ve spent something like seven hours in funny-thinky cooperative puzzler Big Walk, and the concept of more Big Walk is something that confounds and, just a little bit, frightens me. What, you spent an entire evening stubbing toes in the dark and overconfidently barking incorrect solutions at friends, only for the opening of the map room to reveal the humbling significance of your progress thus far, and you want more? Friend, if I play this until my forties, I might make it halfway through.
Even so, questions on future content were repeatedly put to developers House House in a recent reddit AMA. The response: no plans at the moment, though there’s nothing stopping completionist players from making their own fun with its freeform systems.

Title: Twitch are scraping streams for AI training by default, and even their own execs don’t know what user data may have been swept up
Date: Thu, 13 Aug 2026 10:01:24 +0000
Link: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/twitch-are-scraping-streams-for-ai-training-by-default-and-even-their-own-execs-dont-know-what-user-data-may-have-been-swept-up
Livestreaming giants Twitch have admitted using streamed content to train the generative AI models of parent company Amazon. While it’s not clear when the platform began feeding its users’ work into Jeffy B’s Planetkilling Machines, yesterday’s announcement of an opt-out toggle – buried deep within Twitch’s security settings, and set to enable AI stream-gobbling by default – sparked outrage among streamers and viewers that such scraping was occurring at all.
Twitch’s chief product officer Mike Minton and head of community Mary Kish were wheeled out to explain the policy in a stream of their own, though it’s possible the only ones reassured by the discussion were the Amazon bots themselves. Although Minton was upfront about the models’ use of streamed video, he conceded that he didn’t know if users’ personal data had also been caught up in the scraping net, and that he wasn’t actually sure what Amazon "has done in terms of model training." Awesome. Awesome.

Title: Immortality developer Sam Barlow reveals Precognition, a sci-fi horror collaboration with Brandon Cronenberg about "really terrible things that are just around the corner"

Immortality and Her Story developer Sam Barlow has announced Precognition, a new sci-fi horror game in development at Half Mermaid Productions, which features writing from Antiviral and Infinity Pool director Brandon Cronenberg. That's Brandon, not David, yes, but still, having any kind of Cronenberg in your credits is a win, right? When's the last time you made a game with a Cronenberg?
Besides, I thought Infinity Pool was good fun. And I quite like the sound of Precognition, which stars a woman with brain implants who can choose between visions to weave a range of possible dark futures. It began life as a slightly random idea for a Metroid game, apparently. Here's a trailer.
