Title: Baptiste’s New Trailer Proves You Should Never, Ever Trust A Creepy Doll
Date: Tue, 18 Aug 2026 12:00:00 +0000
Link: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/baptiste-new-trailer-proves-you-should-never-ever-trust-a-creepy-doll/
Horror movies have long warned us of the perils of puppets, and that's a vibe you'll explore firsthand in upcoming horror game Baptiste. A vessel for evil--according to the totally scientific research of Annabelle and all those Chucky movies--there's nothing worse than a puppet that has had its switch set to evil. You can discover that terror for yourself in this exclusive new trailer for Baptiste ahead of its eventual release on PC and console.
Taking place after a family tragedy, the game is set at Jagged Shore Cliff, a remote location where a mother and her son attempt a new start in life. It's not long before the duo discovers a dusty cabinet that holds an unsettling doll inside, ignores the warning never to release it, and then watches as all hell breaks loose. With sinister forces assaulting their grip on sanity, it's up to players to guide the protagonist, Tom, to safety while navigating a suffocating atmosphere and oppressive darkness.
Still suffering from the loss of his family, Tom must uncover gruesome secrets, solve puzzles, and stay a step ahead of the supernatural forces--and that damn doll--before it claims his soul in this story-driven psychological-horror game. There's no release date for it yet, but it is headed to PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2.
As the spooky season draws closer, horror fans can also look forward to more chills and thrills in the months to come. The Sinking City 2 has just launched in case you're hungry for some Lovecraftian suspense. Halloween: The Game will allow you to stalk Haddonfield's residents in September, and Silent Hill Townfall is bringing some Scottish horror to your screen soon. There's also the new Hellraiser game in October that looks like BioShock with a BDSM aesthetic that has gone too far, and Neverway looks like it'll scratch that itch for combining Stardew Valley-inspired farming with existential dread.

Title: Xbox Game Pass Is Losing The Witcher 3 And Several More Games In August
Date: Tue, 18 Aug 2026 11:48:15 +0000
Link: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/xbox-game-pass-is-losing-the-witcher-3-and-several-more-games-in-august/
Another batch of Xbox Game Pass titles are on their way out at the end of the month, and it looks like the service will be losing some cool, cute, and critically acclaimed games.
Listed on the "Leaving Soon" tab on the Xbox mobile app, the list includes the following five games exiting the subscription service on August 31: Another Crab's Treasure, I Am Your Beast, Neon Abyss, One Lonely Outpost, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition. As usual, you can save 20% on these games if you decide to buy them before they leave Game Pass. Another Crab's Treasure is a cute take on the souls-like genre, I Am Your Beast plays like a first-person version of Hotline Miami, and Neon Abyss is a slick, action-packed 2D roguelike platformer.
The biggest departure here is The Witcher 3, as Game Pass subscribers will be losing access to CD Projekt Red's open-world masterpiece set in a world of swords and sorcery. The good news is that the game usually retails for a pretty low price, so if you're in the middle of a quest, it's worth picking up, especially when you can score a sizable discount on it. Microsoft typically adds and removes games from Game Pass in two waves per month. Earlier this month, Game Pass saw four games wave goodbye, but the library was bolstered with new arrivals like Beast of Reincarnation and access to the Gears of War: E-Day beta.
Game Pass removals for August 31

Link: https://www.gamespot.com/gallery/the-best-games-of-2026/2900-7436/
Once again, the year in gaming has seen no shortage of high-quality releases and GOTY contenders. Looking ahead, there are many highly anticipated games coming out in 2026, but how well will they score when they arrive? That remains to be seen, but, as in previous years, we'll keep track of all the games that hit a review score of at least 8 and list them below. That doesn't mean that games that fall below that threshold aren't worth your time, as they can still entertain you for hours on end if you can overlook some of their flaws.
We'll also be keeping track of those titles below, but for now, the focus here is on must-play games. 2025's best games included Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Silent Hill F, alongside entries from smaller studios like The Seance of Blake Manor, Dispatch, and Blue Prince.
As a reminder, GameSpot does standard game reviews, reviews in progress, and we'll sometimes publish updated reviews of ongoing games if there have been major changes to them. Most of our reviews are also adapted for video, so if you'd like to hear the soothing voices of our producers tell you exactly why a game is worth your time, you can hit up our YouTube page.
To keep things simple, we'll be listing the games below alphabetically, based on their scores. We've also added a new section below, because while we may not find time to review every game out this year, there's still plenty that we'd recommend when it comes to gripping entertainment that we jammed during our personal time.
Big Walk -- 9
Big Walk is a delightful and refreshing jaunt across a digital frontier that reminds you why video games are at their best when friends are involved. Untitled Goose Game developer House House has put together a charming combo of walking sim, puzzle-solving, and friendslop, and it leaves you to your own devices when you first set foot into a wilderness inspired by the legendary Australian outback. That hands-off approach, clever co-op communication channels, and simple gameplay make for a game that nails the idea of exploration and experimentation.

Cairn -- 9
Cairn represents a new peak for mountain-climbing games, as it fuses a vivid sense of wonder with a feeling of true peril. It's you against the world as you guide the protagonist Aava up steep cliffs and search for that one handhold that won't spell certain doom when you shift your weight. With equilibrium being a key component of the experience, Cairn also knows exactly when to let players breathe, offering moments of quiet reflection as a counterbalance to when you hit a metaphorical--and literal--wall on your ascent.

Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred -- 9
Diablo expansions are a big deal, as these add-ons have given rise to some of the best moments in the franchise. Lord of Hatred can proudly stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Lord of Destruction and Reaper of Souls, as it brings fantastic quality-of-life improvements, two new classes that make you feel like a powerhouse, and a thrilling narrative to the table. Diablo 4's Hatred Saga comes to a satisfying conclusion, while the new Warlock and Paladin classes offer explosive fun honed by major changes to the core gameplay.

Marathon -- 9
Marathon is admittedly a lot to take in the first time you boot it up, but stick with it, and you'll find an extraction shooter that captures the highs and lows of the genre. Its art direction is a visual feast, the gunplay packs a punch, and there's a surprising amount of depth in each 20-minute excursion to Tau Ceti IV. How Marathon will shape up over the long term remains to be seen, but Bungie has delivered an exciting game with strong fundamentals, rich lore, and tactical gameplay that could get even better in time with post-launch DLC drops.

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls -- 9
We've had plenty of great fighting games released this year, but Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is easily the best one. Guilty Gear developer Arc System Works has worked its magic, balancing technical gameplay with a fresh twist on the tag-fighter genre. With solid offerings across both multiplayer and single-player, some of the coolest character designs we've ever seen, and a rock-solid roster, Arc System Works has raised the bar once again for fighting games.

Mewgenics -- 9
All the joy of breeding an army of cats with none of the real-life responsibility of spending a fortune on food and kitty litter, Mewgenics is a challenging experience with unparalleled depth. The Binding of Isaac and The End is Nigh developers Edmund McMillen and Tyler Glaiel have delivered a complex game, balancing the joy of managing an ever-growing collection of cats with the nail-biting "just one more run" energy you'd expect from the best roguelites.

Mina the Hollower -- 9
Now that it's finally out of the gate, Mina the Hollower is proving that is well worth the wait. A masterclass in design that combines the retro aesthetics of Game Boy-era Zelda games with souls-like gameplay, Mina the Hollower is a love letter to the path that feels refreshingly modern. Developer Yacht Club Games has come out swinging with an ambitious game, one that's densely packed with content and charm, while demanding combat ensures that your attention never drifts away for a single second.

Nioh 3 -- 9
Team Ninja's souls-like Nioh games have established themselves as fast-paced and punishing adventures. Nioh 3 doesn't stray from that established formula, but it does add compelling new additions and refinements that sharpen the experience. With the introduction of "open-field" design that adds more exploration and discovery to the mix, quality-of-life enhancements, and rock-solid combat, Nioh 3 is the best game in the series to date and Team Ninja at its best.

Pokemon Pokopia -- 9
The idea of a Pokemon-themed cozy life sim sounds like an interesting idea for a spin-off, and it's one that has been expertly realized in Pokemon Pokopia. Saros -- 9
Housemarque knows a thing or two about roguelite bullet-hell adventures that keep you glued to the screen, and Saros builds on Returnal's foundation to deliver a rollercoaster of fun and challenge. While it's not as unforgiving as Returnal, prepare to die and try (try!) again as you master the exquisitely aggressive gameplay of Saros. The game successfully flips Housemarque's roguelite formula on its head, and the result is an intoxicating rush of power when the stars align.

007 First Light -- 8
With Hitman developer IO Interactive at the helm, 007 First Light is a showcase of the studio's greatest strengths. From intricate worldbuilding to top-tier stealth, the first James Bond adventure in many years shares a lot of DNA with Agent 47, but it also breaks free from those comparisons by excelling in other gameplay areas. A game that's laser-focused on delivering a tightly constructed story complemented by rough-and-tumble action, precision shooting, and an arsenal of one-liners, 007 First Light is a successful and confident reinvention of Bond for the modern era.

Forza Horizon 6
Forza Horizon 6 doesn't stray from the formula it has been fine-tuning since 2012, but it doesn't need to either. Instead, Forza Horizon's tour of Japan is a celebration of car culture that is constantly rewarding and looks as good as a million-dollar supercar. Halo: Campaign Evolved -- 8
Several years ago, the idea of Halo appearing on a non-Xbox console would have been tantamount to heresy. But in 2026, Halo is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a multiplatform launch that does the franchise proud. Halo: Campaign Evolved is the best way to play through the very first Master Chief adventure, as the overhauled gameplay, updated graphics, and iconic soundtrack make for a killer package. While the new co-op missions don't reach the same highs as the original--and redesigned--levels, this is still a thrilling dive back into the game that made the first Xbox console a must-have machine--but this time, everyone gets to join in and have some fun.

Reanimal -- 8
Critics of the Little Nightmares co-op horror game series say that the terror of the original game has been somewhat muted in its sequels, and if you feel the same way, then you'll want to check out Reanimal. It more than lives up to the legacy of Little Nightmares, as this spiritual successor surpasses it with a game design that makes exploring a haunting and unsettling world quite enjoyable, especially with a co-op partner in tow. Rhythm Heaven Groove -- 8
Nintendo might be looked at as a publisher of kid-friendly games, but the company isn't afraid to get weird from time to time. Rhythm Heaven Groove continues that tradition for surprisingly goofy games, and similar to WarioWare, offering a collection of zany microgames, there's plenty to dig into here. The big difference is the emphasis on music and timing in Rhythm Heaven Groove, but once you find your groove, you're in for a heck of an experience. As mentioned above, this is where we'll put the games we didn't review on the site. With hundreds of new releases every month, it's hard to find the time to play every single title out this year, but we still enjoy finding new releases to kick back and relax with in our spare time. Like the games listed above, these score a minimum of 8/10 in our personal books, and this is where we can also spotlight games that might have flown under your radar.

Denshattack
Denshattack is a vibe--specifically, an early 2000s blast of color that pulls no punches and delights in making you sit forward in your chair as you lock into an anime-inspired thrill-ride. Each run in the game will leave you breathless as you juggle jumps, grinds, and wallrunning with a locomotive that spits in the face of physics, but once you get over that learning curve, Denshattack is hard to put down. It takes skill and practice to master the rails in this delightful love letter to a bygone era, but you'll love every second of it once you hit the tracks.

After spending some time in early access, Fields of Mistria has steadily transformed into a delightful blend of nostalgic farming games, '90s anime-inspired aesthetics, and highly polished gameplay. While it looks like a retro treat, the game has a very modern feel to how it plays, as well as one of the best gameplay loops around as you combine farming, bug-catching, magic progression, and much more into a satisfying session of fun.

Date: Tue, 18 Aug 2026 10:32:21 +0000

Filling out the Museum requires either a lot of luck or a detailed guide to the fish locations in Fields Of Mistria. Fortunately, we can provide one of those, including tips and tricks to get those coveted Legendary Fish. We've also covered Fishing Perks, so you know which ones to pick to get the best results (and make the most money), as well as Bait, Legendary Fish, equipment, Fish Traps, and diving.
In This Article

Fishing Basics
Fish come in four sizes, and have six available appearances underneath the water. Fish-shaped shadows can either be small, medium, large, or giant, and you'll also see schools of fish (a dense cluster of tiny fish shadows) and dive spots. Dive spots are round dark patches in the water, which prompt you to "dive" when you swim over them.
You'll need a Fishing Rod to start fishing, and will eventually be able to use the Fish Traps as well. Fishing Poles, like all Tools, have better range the higher level they are. You'll start off with a Worn Fishing Rod, which allows you to cast a range of 6, and work your way up through Copper, Iron, Silver, and Gold before reaching the Mistril Fishing Rod which can charge a range of up to 16.
Here's how you know it's time to reel in.
Any body of water around the map could contain fish, aside from the fountain in the center of town. Hold the default Tool button to charge your line, then release to cast it. The fish will nibble a few times, then bite--displaying a "!" in a bubble. Once this happens, hit the Tool button again to reel it in. If you're not quick enough, it'll swim away.
Various Perks can increase the range of attraction between the fish and the hook, as well as rewarding you with money and extra bonuses while you fish.
Legendary Fish
Legendary Fish can only be caught once the Legendary Skill is unlocked. During the morning announcements under the calendar date, the game will now tell you that a "Legendary Fish is nearby" with a silhouette of the fish in question.
Each fish is tied to a location, season, and weather type, explained in the table below.
FishLocationSeasonWeatherCherry FishPondSpringWindyLightning FishRiverSummerStormyLeaf FishRiverFallWindySnow FishOceanWinterBlizzard
Legendary Fish can only be caught once each, and aren't good money-makers or gifts, so donating them to the museum is the best way to go.
Using Fish Bait and Traps in Fields Of Mistria
Fish Bait And Traps
Fish Bait is made in a Terrarium, something you unlock through the quest Apiaries And Terrariums. Terrariums are filled with bugs, and depending on your choice of critter, you might find yourself with some Fish Bait. The quality of the Bait depends on the rarity of the four bugs in the Terrarium, giving you Common Fish Bait all the way through to Rare.
Bait can be used by throwing it into the water to summon fish, or placed inside a Fish Trap and left overnight.
The below table shows fish that require Bait to be caught. Other fish can appear in the Fish Traps, but the ones in this table won't appear anywhere else.

Title: Class Is in Session: GeForce NOW Levels Up Linux, Chromebooks and More
Date: Thu, 13 Aug 2026 13:00:33 +0000
Link: https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/geforce-now-thursday-linux-native-app/
GeForce NOW is giving cloud gaming an extra-credit upgrade just in time for back-to-school season.
The native Linux app for GeForce NOW is officially out of beta. GeForce NOW is also delivering new cloud optimizations that make Frame Generation feel even more responsive while streaming. On top of that, Performance members will see higher frame rates in demanding games thanks to a CPU performance adjustment.
Plus, learn how GeForce NOW can add high-performance GeForce RTX gaming to the Chromebooks students already rely on for school – and how eligible new owners can take advantage of Chromebook Fast Pass.
It all adds up to more ways to move from assignments to adventures across nearly any device.
The only homework left is to decide what to play. This week, nine new games join the GeForce NOW library.
The Cloud Gets Extra Credit
GeForce NOW keeps getting better.
The native Linux app for GeForce NOW has officially graduated from beta. Built on months of community feedback, the release focuses on performance, stability and polish while continuing to support Ubuntu 24.04 and later. A new Flatpack repository makes getting started and receiving future updates even easier. Visit the download page for more information and instructions.
The cloud handles the rendering, so Linux gamers can tap into the latest GeForce RTX performance while staying on their preferred setup — without local hardware upgrades, compatibility headaches or complicated workarounds.
Smooth gameplay makes the grade.
GeForce NOW has also optimized DLSS Frame Generation in the cloud, reducing latency and making games feel more responsive. The improvements are especially noticeable when streaming at 60 or 120 frames per second in 1440p and 4K, helping every mouse movement and camera pan feel more immediate.
Performance members will also enjoy additional server software optimizations to improve frame rates in select CPU-intensive games, helping demanding titles run more smoothly while delivering an even better gameplay experience. The cloud-side upgrade happens automatically, with nothing for members to install or configure, and at no additional cost.
From Class Mode to Game Mode
Class dismissed. Game on.
Chromebooks already in backpacks can double as a PC gaming powerhouse, with GeForce NOW giving everyday school setups extra credit.
Chromebooks handling lectures, group projects and browser tabs can transform into high-performance GeForce RTX gaming PCs in just a few clicks.
When class is out, open a supported browser or app and stream more than 2,000 supported PC games from existing libraries, with the cloud handling the heavy lifting. The same flexibility extends to Macs, Surface devices, everyday laptops, Steam Deck and mobile devices.
Plus, eligible new Chromebook and Chromebook+ owners can claim a year of GeForce NOW at no cost with Chromebook Fast Pass, with priority access and no ads.
Study. Stream PC games. Same device.

Title: Best in Class: Stream PC Games and Study on the Same Laptop With GeForce NOW
Date: Thu, 30 Jul 2026 13:00:20 +0000
Link: https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/geforce-now-thursday-back-to-school-2026/
Back to school means balancing assignments, deadlines and downtime. GeForce NOW makes it easy to have it all.
With cloud gaming, everyday laptops used for class can also become GeForce RTX-powered gaming setups.
When it’s time to switch from studying to gaming, members can jump into Halo: Campaign Evolved, as GeForce NOW is bringing one of the gaming world’s most celebrated titles to nearly any device through the cloud, alongside eight total games joining the GeForce NOW library this week.
From A+ to AAA Gaming
This back-to-school season, the easiest upgrade isn’t replacing laptops in backpacks. It’s unlocking even more from these same laptops, from creating to gaming.
With a GeForce NOW membership, Chromebooks, Macs and Surface devices can become GeForce RTX-powered gaming PCs in the cloud. The GeForce NOW library features thousands of supported PC games, letting members stream titles they already own from digital stores like Steam, Xbox PC Game Pass and Epic Games Store in just a few clicks.
The cloud keeps games up to date and ready to play, making it easy to jump into a match between classes, after homework or whenever there’s free time. Time spent waiting on downloads, patches and installs becomes time spent in game instead.
The Ultimate membership enables best-in-class experiences by delivering 5080-class performance in the cloud with NVIDIA DLSS, ray tracing and NVIDIA Reflex technologies for responsive, visually rich gameplay — all on the hardware gamers already own.
A creator known as “Menguiny” recently put this to the test after picking up a MacBook Neo. GeForce NOW turned the laptop — usually the creator’s go-to for editing videos and everyday work — into a top-notch gaming machine, too.
Another creator, “TechWithSeong” highlighted that same versatility GeForce NOW offers. Rather than juggling separate devices for work and gaming, he used GeForce NOW Ultimate to stream supported PC games across the devices he already owns — from a MacBook used for editing to gaming on the go with handheld devices.
Gamers can start with a day pass and experience all the premium benefits without a monthly commitment. Plus, the cost of a day pass can be applied toward a first membership purchase — it’s like earning a little extra credit along the way.
Everyone, at Their Stations
Needlers never looked so sharp.
Experience the Master Chief’s iconic journey on GeForce NOW in Halo: Campaign Evolved — a modernized remake of Halo: Combat Evolved’s campaign — rebuilt with high-definition visuals, updated cinematics and refined gameplay. Whether discovering Halo for the first time or returning after 25 years to finish the fight, it’s as the Master Chief says: “We’re just getting started.”
Crash-land on the mysterious ringworld alongside Cortana and uncover great secrets while battling overwhelming Covenant forces. Fight through the rebuilt campaign, then continue the adventure with three brand-new missions featuring the Master Chief and Sergeant Johnson. Expanded weapons, iconic vehicles, hijackable Wraith tanks and optional Skull modifiers offer even more ways to play.
Suit up across PCs, Macs, Chromebooks, handhelds, mobile devices, TVs and more with GeForce NOW Ultimate, powered by GeForce RTX 5080-class performance in the cloud. Experience Halo with NVIDIA DLSS, ray tracing and NVIDIA Reflex technologies delivering higher frame rates and ultralow latency that keep every firefight feeling responsive and worthy of a Spartan.
From solo gaming to online co-op modes, GeForce NOW cloud saves let members log in and pick up exactly where they left off across supported devices — no lengthy downloads, extra storage space or expensive hardware upgrades required. The only thing left to carry is the mission.

Dragons and Dinosaurs — on Any Device

Three iconic Capcom adventures arrive on GeForce NOW this week, ready for longtime fans to revisit and new players to discover.

Pursued by a relentless prehistoric terror, players fight to survive from the facility to the world of the Cretaceous Period.
Whether reliving unforgettable moments or discovering these legendary titles for the first time, gamers on GeForce NOW can experience gaming history on supported devices like Chromebooks, Fire TV and Steam Deck — no legacy hardware required.
Spartans — Start Early
Spartans don’t have to wait. Players who prepurchase the Premium Edition of Halo: Campaign Evolved can suit up for Advanced Access before the game’s global launch on Tuesday, July 28.

Title: Helldivers 2: A deep dive into the Illuminate Void
Date: Tue, 18 Aug 2026 12:00:04 +0000
Link: https://blog.playstation.com/2026/08/18/helldivers-2-a-deep-dive-into-the-illuminate-void/
Helldivers, we have entered the unknown at last to face the unthinkable. Our elite peacekeepers are looking into the corruption and shining Liberty’s light onto the heart of darkness. The Gateway is constructed and we have crossed into the new frontier.
The Illuminate may have broken through but Super Earth will push back. Now is the time to mount the counteroffensive! You must work together to destroy their unnatural mutations in the name of Managed Democracy.
The Gateway is now open
During the ‘Census Thunder’ campaign, the Helldivers secured large reserves of Voteless tissue samples from the Void to aid in the study of this menace. Super Earth’s Ministry of Science determined a way into the Void by opening and stabilizing a wormhole on Rirga Bay using the research you helped secure: the Gateway is now open.
We’re sending our best, Helldivers. And that means you.
Liberate The Source Planet
Space inside the Void is strange, divers. There are no stars, no marvelous skies to behold from the planet’s surface. The planets pulled into the Void have been transformed, mutated, and reborn inside it.
These worlds hold Illuminate ruins and ancient technologies that you must document and destroy.
You must navigate these strange worlds and find the Source Planet, formerly known as Seasse, and liberate it. But beware: Seasse is a shade of its former glory, now consumed by the haunting flora from the Void, and filled with Illuminate horrors (the Wretch, the Crusher and the abominable lands in which they dwell)
Document the Corruption
Inside the Void, you have new objectives to complete on the planets, and–unlike previously more linear dives–you will have several randomized primary objectives for every operation. This brand new arrangement requires you to think fast and work together to dive and extract safely.
Document your discoveries inside the Void with the tactical video camera, destroying Illuminate structures, conducting reconnaissance missions, and more. Document their war crimes and end their foul corruption.
Extract the Squad
The Void is dangerous and time is of the essence: complete objectives and extract. To give your squad a fighting chance at making it back to the Destroyer, Helldivers will be able to unlock secondary extraction zones on the Void planets.
You won’t be facing these new challenges alone. Push forward with the help of SEAF support squads to unravel the secrets of the Void. Reveal the hidden truths, uncover the source of the anomaly… and put Freedom’s foot clean through its face.
The fight for a safer tomorrow begins today.
The latest update, Devoid of Liberty***, is live now. Take back the galaxy, divers–give these squids hell.
***Gameplay requires internet access and paid-for subscription on console (sold separately).

Phantom Blade Zero is set to release on October 29*. In our deep dive gameplay State of Play episode, we share more about the world of Phantom Blade Zero, its gameplay systems, and the involvement of kung fu legend Donnie Yen.
Play Video
We’ve kept some of our deeper gameplay systems under wraps until now, and today’s State of Play offers a closer look at how you can shape your combat setup and express your own style of play in our dark wuxia action game. We’ve been looking forward to sharing more of the Wulin and Donnie Yen’s involvement in the game, and we hope you’re as excited as we are!
The Wulin world and combat options
The Wulin, our dark wuxia world, is a place rife with conflict and intrigue, where our protagonist, Soul, will encounter citizens in need along his journey. Interacting with them and completing some of the side quests might even open up new story paths and deepen your understanding of this perilous martial world. Secrets are hidden throughout the Wulin, waiting to be uncovered as you learn the truth behind the events that set the story of Phantom Blade Zero in motion.

While exploring the Wulin, you’ll unlock more than 30 main weapons, plus 25 secondary weapons known as Phantom Edges. You can upgrade your weapons and pair them with different accessories to create the build you want. Want to take down enemies from afar? Use summons to assist you in battle? You’ve got plenty of options. Express yourself freely through combat as you fend off assassins, those who have succumbed to darkness, and martial arts masters who plot against you. Defeating some enemies expands your arsenal, giving you even more ways to take on challenging foes. Don’t worry if you second guess a weapon you’ve upgraded or want to switch up your build. You can always reforge it, get those materials back, and reinvest them in another.

Title: Stare at an imprisoned god to stop the apocalypse in Sarco, a no-saves horror game in which you'll also, somehow, have to explore a gutted scientific base

In Hello Andromeda's Sarco, you're trapped in a scientific research base with a sarcophagus housing a cosmic being that starts to open when you aren't looking at it. Friends, I am never going to beat this game - not because I dread to gaze into the abyss, lest it gaze into me, nor because as with Schrödinger's cat, I do not credit the sealed cosmic being with a stable existence prior to the box's opening. No, I'm going to fail because my parents taught me that it's rude to stare and they did not add the disclaimer "...unless you're trying to keep the lid on Shub-Niggurath, The Black Goat of the Woods with a Thousand Young." Nature's relaxing, yeah? Life as a forest ranger, wandering around amid the trees and making sure none of the animals are getting up to mischief sounds a bit like bliss. Unless you're the forest ranger in freshly announced horror game I Hear the Forest, who's been cursed and is thus not having a relaxing time in the woods.

Title: Death Stranding meets party-based tactical combat in open world RPG Fog'n'Silence, in which you lead twisted humans through the Afterlife

On viewing the trailer for Fog'n'Silence, I transformed instantly into a caricature of a Texan oilman. "Hoowee!!" I whooped, hurling down my ten gallon hat and firing my ivory-handled six shooter into the air. "I have got to get me some of that Fog'n'Silence!!" The best thing about this reference is that it tells you absolutely nothing about Fog'n'Silence.
Created by Kyiv-based Hello Andromeda, this is a grim and enveloping party-based open world RPG that, according to studio co-founder Vlad Muntian, takes inspiration from Kenshi, Death Stranding, and Outer Wilds. It puts you in charge of a group of Vagrants exploring the vast plains of the Afterlife. You'll deal with transmogrifying fog, sneak around blind monsters, tackle esoteric physics, and (if you must) take part in freeze-time combat that sees Vagrants and adversaries plotting actions, then playing them out simultaneously. All the while dealing with lasting injuries, mounting hunger, and rapidly decreasing sanity. Read more

Warren Spector, Deus Ex director and general household name of the PC gamingverse, has announced his retirement from game development.
